TOWSON, Md. — Johns Hopkins jumped out to a four-goal lead but couldn't sustain the momentum in dropping an 11-10 decision to Virginia in double overtime Sunday in NCAA Quarterfinal action.

The third-ranked Blue Jays (11-5) built a 4-0 advantage in the first quarter and held a 10-7 lead late in the third quarter before being held scoreless for the final 23 minutes of action.

JHU goalie Chayse Ierland made 15 saves while offensively Jacob Angelus recorded six points on five assists, Garrett Degnon contributed five points (three goals, two assists) and Russell Melendez netted four goals.

Fifth-ranked Virginia (12-5) trailed the entire afternoon until Connor Shellengberger scored the game-winner with 1:40 left in the sixth period.

Virginia will meet Maryland in the NCAA Semifinals on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN2.
