Maryland, Penn State Garner Weekly Men’s Lacrosse Awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Men’s Lacrosse Awards for the week of Feb. 25-March 4^th, 2025.  

Offensive Players of the Week 
Eric Spanos, Maryland 
Senior – Attack – Pottstown, Pa. – Major: Communication 

• Tallied a game-high tying four points in win over No. 1 Notre Dame with three goals and an assist 

• Spanos has recorded four points in three of five games this season 

• Scored the first two goals and then scored the 10^th to give the Terps a three-goal lead, the largest of the day 

• Spanos’ second Offensive Player of the Week Award. Last: Feb 11, 2025 

Defensive Player of the Week 
Will Schaller, Maryland 
Junior – Defense –Bel Air, Md. – Major: Philosophy, Politics, & Economics 

• Helped Maryland hold Notre Dame to 10 goals, their least amount since April 30, 2023 

• Recorded two caused turnovers and a groundball 

• Guarded 2024 NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player Chris Kavanaugh and held him to one goal through their first three quarters 

• Saved a goal with the goalie out of the cage to prevent Notre Dame from tying the game at 6-6 in the third quarter 

• Also won the runout on a ball out of bounds with 15 seconds remaining to secure the win 

• Last Maryland Defensive Player of the Week Award: Jack McDonald (February 24, 2025) 

Specialist of the Week 
Colby Baldwin, Penn State 
Sophomore – Face-off – White Plains, NY – Major: Comm Arts & Sciences 

• Scooped up 10 ground balls in Penn State’s 15-9 win over Yale 

• Dominated the face-off, winning 17-of-26 at a .654 rate  

• Dished out an assist and scored a goal of his own 

• Last Penn State Specialist of the Week Award: Jack Fracyon (Feb. 11, 2025) 

Freshman of the Week 
Hunter Aquino, Penn State 
Freshman – Midfield – Easton, Pa. – Major: Kinesiology 

• Totaled a career high seven points in a 15-9 win over Yale 

• Scored two goals and tallied five assists 

• Also recorded a ground ball 

• As a freshman, Aquino is fourth in the Big Ten in points per game 

• Aquino’s second Freshman of the Week Award. Last: Feb. 18, 2025
