Three Big Ten Teams Chosen to NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Tournament

Maryland, Ohio State and Penn State to compete for NCAA Championship

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has qualified three teams for the 2025 NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championship. Ohio State received the conference’s automatic berth while Maryland and Penn State earned at-large berths. 

The NCAA field includes 18 teams with an opening round play-in game taking place on Wednesday (May 7) followed by eight, first round contests occurring Saturday and Sunday (May 10-11) on campus sites. Quarterfinals games will take place at Navy – Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md. and at James M. Shuart Stadium in Hempstead, N.Y. on May 17-18, with the semifinals and final slated for Gilette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. on May 24 and May 26. 

No. 2 seed Maryland (11-3) will take on the winner of the first-round game between Robert Morris and Air Force at 2:30 p.m. ET on Sunday (May 11) at SECU Stadium in College Park, MD. The Terrapins are making their 22nd-consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament and 47th appearance overall. Maryland was also the 2024 national runner-up. 

Ohio State (14-2), the No. 4 seed, entertains Notre Dame (8-4), the two-time defending NCAA champions, at 12:00 p.m. ET on Saturday (May 10) at Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium in Colombus, Ohio. The Buckeyes are making their first appearance since 2022 and seventh overall after a historic season that included the Big Ten regular season and tournament titles. 

Penn State (10-4), the No. 5 seed, will host Colgate (10-7), the Patriot League Tournament champion, at 5 ET on Saturday (May 10) at Panzer Stadium in Happy Valley, Pa. This is the Nittany Lions third-straight tournament appearance and eighth trip overall. 

Penn State and Maryland will play on ESPNU while Ohio State will play on ESPN2.
