Day two of the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championships saw Johns Hopkins advance to the quarterfinals with a win over Lehigh while Penn State was eliminated on the road by Georgetown.
BALTIMORE, Md. — Johns Hopkins staged a late rally to pull out a 13-10 victory over Lehigh at Homewood Field.
The Blue Jays trailed 10-9 with under seven minutes left in regulation before exploding for four goals in 3 minutes, 21 seconds. Matt Collison finished with four goals and five points and teammate Tyler Dunn won 11 faceoffs and gathered 10 ground balls. Both teams managed 22 shots on goal.
No. 3 seed Johns Hopkins (11-4) will meet No. 6 seed Virginia on Sunday in Towson, Md.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Penn State's season came to an end with a 12-9 loss to Georgetown at Cooper Field Sunday afternoon.
Penn State (11-5) led 9-7 after 45 minutes but were held scoreless in the fourth quarter. Matt Traynor registered a hat trick and a team-high 11 shots for the Nittany Lions.
