Maryland Advances to Second-Consecutive NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Semifinal
Terrapins’ defense only allows six goals to Georgetown in 9-6 win

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Maryland became the second Big Ten team to advance to the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse semifinals after beating Georgetown 9-6.
Maryland jumped to an early 3-1 lead, but Georgetown answered with a three-goal run. Eric Spanos then connected on a pass from Eric Spanos and netted his first goal of the day to even the score at 4-4. Bryce Ford tacked on another goal to give the Terrapins the lead heading into halftime.
The game remained close throughout the third period and heading into the fourth period, the Terrapins only lead 6-5. Erksa then scored two of his three goals to open the final period, giving the Terrapins an 8-6 lead.
Daniel Kelly scored a goal with 2:21 to provide further separation and the Terrapins held strong for the remainder of the game.
Big Ten All-First Team goalie Logan McNaney was stellar in the net. He made 11 saves and only allowed six goals on the day. The Maryland defense contributed heavily to McNaney’s successful day and caused five turnovers.
With the win, Maryland advances to play No. 3 Syracuse on Saturday, May 24 at 2:30 p.m. ET. The Terrapins beat the Orange in College Park 11-7 earlier this season on Feb. 15.
