Big Ten Unveils 2023 Men's Lacrosse Tournament Bracket

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference announced the 2023 Big Ten Men’s Lacrosse Tournament bracket on Saturday, with Penn State earning the No. 1 seed after earning a share of the regular season title. The Big Ten Tournament will feature a six-team field and will begin with two quarterfinal games that will be played on the campus of the higher seeds on Saturday, April 29.
Penn State and No. 2 seed Johns Hopkins have earned first round byes after sharing the 2023 Big Ten regular season title. Both the semifinals and the championship game on May 4 and 6, respectively, will be contested at Johns Hopkins’ Homewood Field in Baltimore, Maryland.
Penn State earned the No. 1 seed in the tournament and a first-round bye after finishing the regular season with a 9-3 overall record, including 4-1 in conference play. The Nittany Lions, who are currently ranked No. 5 in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division I Coaches Poll, earned the top seed by virtue of their 12-11 double-overtime win over the Blue Jays on April 8.
The Nittany Lions will play in the first semifinal on May 5 against the winner of the tournament’s first quarterfinal matchup between No. 4 seed Michigan (6-6, 2-3 Big Ten) and No. 5 seed Ohio State (5-8, 1-4). The start time for that game has not yet been announced.
Johns Hopkins, who is currently ranked No. 7 in the USILA poll, earned the No. 2 seed in the tournament following a 12-4 regular-season campaign. The Blue Jays(11-4, 4-1), will compete in the second semifinal against the winner of the tournament’s second quarterfinal matchup between No. 3 seed Maryland (8-5, 3-2) and No. 6 seed Rutgers (8-5, 1-4), which will be played at 8 p.m. (ET) Saturday and broadcast on BTN.
The Big Ten semifinals will be played at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. (ET) May 4, with the championship game slated for 5:30 p.m. (ET) May 6. Both semifinal games and the championship game will be broadcast on BTN.
The winner of this year’s Big Ten Tournament will earn the conference’s automatic berth into the NCAA Championship, with that bracket announced at 9:30 p.m. (ET) May 7 live on ESPNU.
