Four Big Ten Teams Chosen to NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has qualified four teams for the 2024 NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championship. Michigan received the conference’s automatic berth while Johns Hopkins, Maryland and Penn State earned at-large berths.

The NCAA field includes 18 teams with an opening round play-in game taking place on Wednesday (May 8) followed by eight, first round contests occurring Saturday and Sunday (May 11-12) on campus sites. Quarterfinals games will take place at Shuart Stadium in Hempstead, N.Y. and at Unitas Stadium in Towson, Md., on May 18-19 with the semifinals and final slated for Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on May 25 and May 27.

Johns Hopkins (10-4), the No. 3 seed, will host Lehigh (10-6), the Patriot League Tournament champion, at Noon ET on Sunday (May 12) at Homewood Field in Baltimore, Md. The Big Ten regular season champion, the Blue Jays are making their second-straight NCAA appearance and 49th overall.

Maryland (8-5), the No. 7 seed, entertains Princeton (11-4), the Ivy League Tournament titlist, at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday (May 11) at SECU Stadium in College Park, Md. The Terrapins are making their 21st-consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament and 46th appearance overall. Maryland won the national title in 2022.

Michigan (10-6) will encounter No. 5 seed Denver (11-3) at 5 p.m. ET on Saturday (May 11) at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium in Denver, Colo. The Wolverines, who captured the Big Ten Tournament title on Saturday, are making their second consecutive trip to the NCAAs.

Penn State (11-4) will take on No. 8 seed Georgetown (12-3), the Big East Tournament champions, at 2:30 p.m. ET Sunday (May 12) at Cooper Field in Washington, D.C. The Nittany Lions are making their second-straight NCAA appearance and seventh trip overall to the NCAA postseason. Penn State advanced to the NCAA Championship Weekend last season.

All four games involving Big Ten teams will be broadcast on ESPNU.
