2025 Big Ten Men's Lacrosse Tournament

<div class="payload-richtext">ANN ARBOR, Mich. – No. 1 seed Ohio State jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back en route to its first Big Ten Men's Lacrosse Tournament Title in program history, defeating the No. 2 seed Maryland Terrapins 14-10.   Maryland won the initial faceoff, but Cullen Brown forced a turnover which led to a goal by Ohio State’s Matthew Gannon. The Buckeyes then scored four more before the Terrapins got on the board.  After two goals by Eric Spanos at 6:50 in the second quarter, Maryland tightened the gap at 8-5, but Griffin Turner scored his sixth goal of the season to close out the half and increase the Buckeyes’ lead to four.    Ohio State secured its lead to open the second half with back-to-back goals. The Buckeyes then closed out the game by never letting Maryland get within three scores. The Buckeyes led all teams with five members on the Big Ten All-Tournament team.  All-Tournament performer Garrett Haas led all scorers with three goals, and four additional Buckeyes added a pair of goals in a well-rounded effort. Goalie Caleb Fyock made countless crucial saves to stave off any potential comeback from the Terrapins to earn the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. Ohio State Wins First Big Ten Tournament Title

 </a> ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Ohio State and Maryland won their respective Big Ten Tournament semifinal games Thursday afternoon to advance to the championship.    Ohio State (13-2) bested Rutgers (7-9) 11-7 in the first semifinal matchup at U-M Lacrosse Stadium. The No. 1 seed Buckeyes trailed 2-1 early in the first period after two consecutive goals from the No. 5 seed Scarlet Knights' Colin Kurdyla. Ohio State then responded with a 5-0 run, holding Rutgers scoreless until 12:03 in the third period. Rutgers never got within two goals the remainder of the game. Gannon Matthews and Alex Marinier each notched a hat trick, and Big Ten Specialist of the Year Caleb Fyock totaled 14 saves on 21 shots to keep the Scarlet Knights at bay.    No. 2 seed Maryland prevailed 10-8 against No. 3 seed Penn State. The Terrapins (10-3) led 6-2 at the end of the first half, but the Nittany Lions (10-4) responded with a four-goal run to tie the game 6-6 entering the fourth quarter.  After back-and-forth goals from each team, Maryland jumped out to a 9-7 lead after two goals from Daniel Kelly with 5:18 remaining. Kelly had five goals on the day and Matthew Keegan added a hat trick for the Terrapins. Despite the Nittany Lions 18-4 advantage in the crease on the day, the Maryland defense held strong in the final minutes to close out the win.    Ohio State and Maryland meet at 8 p.m. ET Saturday in the Big Ten Championship Game. The last time the two met in the championship game, the Terrapins prevailed 10-9 thanks to a <a href="https://umterps.com/news/2017/5/6/211587591.aspx">
 late fourth period goal by Colin Heacock
 </a>. If Ohio State wins, it will be their first Big Ten Tournament Championship title. Maryland will look to claim its fifth and first since 2022. </div>

Ohio State and Maryland Advance to Big Ten Men’s Lacrosse Tournament Championship

 TOURNAMENT CENTRAL
 </a> ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Big Ten Conference has announced that the semifinals of the 2025 Big Ten Men’s Lacrosse Tournament Presented by DirecTV on May 1 have been rescheduled due to expected inclement weather.  As a result, both semifinals games will be pushed to earlier start times. No. 1 Ohio State vs. No. 5 Rutgers will now begin at 12:00 p.m. and No. 2 Maryland vs. No. 3 Penn State will begin 35 minutes after the end of the previous game. Each game will still be broadcast on BTN. Big Ten Men’s Lacrosse Semifinals Shifted Due to Inclement Weather

 </a>The 2025 Big Ten Men's Lacrosse Tournament began Saturday with Penn State and Rutgers winning quarterfinal matches. The field is now set for the semifinals next Thursday in Ann Arbor. ANN ARBOR, Mich. – No. 5 seed Rutgers played spoiler to tournament hosts No. 4 Michigan in an 11-8 win. The Scarlet Knights (7-8) lost to the Wolverines 8-6 at home in Piscataway just two weeks ago.  The Scarlet Knights trailed 2-0 early, but forced 17 turnovers and saw eight different players score on the day in a balanced effort to come out on top. All-Big Ten First Team goalie Cardin Stoller saved eight shots on the day. Rutgers will return to Ann Arbor for a semifinals matchup against No. 1 seed Ohio State at 5 p.m. ET on Big Ten Network. UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – No. 3 seed Penn State fended off No. 6 Johns Hopkins in a thrilling 13-12 win to advance to the semifinals. The Nittany Lions (10-3) went up 13-9 after Ethan Long scored his 13th goal of the season with 6:40 remaining in the game. The Blue Jays responded with three straight goals and trailed by just one goal with 2:51, and the Penn State defense held strong behind the efforts of Will Costin and Ethan Long to secure the win.  Kyle Lehman led all scorers with four goals and also tallied an assist. Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year Matt Traynor also added two goals, an assist and five groundballs in the winning effort. Penn State will take on No. 2 seed Maryland in the semifinals for the second year in a row on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. EST inside U-M Lacrosse Stadium on Big Ten Network. </div>

2025 Big Ten Men's Lacrosse Tournament Central

<div class="payload-richtext">Photo by Kirk IrwinCOLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 4 seed Michigan started out of the gates quickly and didn’t look back in recording a 16-4 victory over third seed Penn State to win the 2024 Big Ten Men’s Lacrosse Tournament Championship Saturday evening at the Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium. Michigan receives the Big Ten’s automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. Lightning caused the game to be delayed by 52 minutes, but Michigan wasted little time getting on the board, scoring six seconds into the contest for the quickest goal in tournament history. The Wolverines (10-6) scored two more times in the opening five minutes and built a 6-1 cushion after one quarter of action. Michigan took a 9-3 lead into halftime and outscored Penn State, 6-0, in the third quarter to secure its second-straight tournament title. Ryan Cohen produced a record seven assists while Justin Tiernan finished with five goals. Michael Boehm earned the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player Award after compiling nine goals and 14 points in three games. Michigan placed five players on the all-tournament team while Penn State (11-4) earned three selections. The Big Ten will find out how many of its teams qualify for the postseason when the NCAA Selection Show airs Sunday evening at 9:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2. Michigan Wins Big Ten Men’s Lacrosse Tournament Title

<div class="payload-richtext">Photo by Kirk IrwinCOLUMBUS, Ohio — Michigan and Penn State won semifinal games at the Big Ten Men's Lacrosse Tournament Thursday evening to advance to Saturday's Championship Final. The No. 4 seed Wolverines (9-6) posted a 10-7 come-from-behind win over top seed Johns Hopkins (10-4) in the first semifinal at the Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium. The Blue Jays opened a 6-1 lead early in the second period, but were held to one goal the rest of the way. By going on a 9-1 run, Michigan recorded the largest comeback in Big Ten Tournament history. Michigan's Michael Boehm tallied a game-high five goals as part of a six-point night while Garrett Degnon registered a hat trick for Johns Hopkins. Michigan twice converted on the man-up and finished with a 23-15 advantage in shots on goal. No. 3 seed Penn State jumped to an early lead and never trailed in registering a 19-9 victory over No. 2 seed Maryland. In the process, Penn State set a tournament record for most goals in a game. The Nittany Lions (11-3) opened a 7-1 lead in the second period and took an 11-3 lead into halftime. Maryland (8-5) scored four goals within a span of 2 minutes, 47 seconds in the third quarter to narrow the gap to five goals, but couldn't draw any closer. Penn State's Matt Traynor recorded a six-point night behind five goals while teammates TJ Malone and Mac Costin provided three goals. Maryland received two goals apiece from Eric Spanos and Daniel Maltz. Michigan and Penn State meet at 8 p.m. ET Saturday in the Big Ten Championship Game. Both programs are looking for their second titles.</div>

Men's Lacrosse Tournament Update: Michigan, Penn State Advance to Final

The field is now set for the semifinals next Thursday in Columbus. ANN ARBOR, Mich. — No. 4 seed Michigan made it two wins in as many weeks against No. 5 seed Ohio State with a 15-9 win in the Big Ten tournament opener.Trailing 3-1 late in the first period, the 19th-ranked Wolverines went on a 6-2 run leading into halftime and never trailed thereafter. Ryan Cohen and Justin Tiernan recorded hat tricks while Michael Boehm recorded a game-high four points (2 goals, 2 assists). The Buckeyes (6-9) were led offensively by Kurt Brunn's three goals and Jack McKenna's three points (2-1). The teams finished even in faceoffs (14-for-28).The 19th-ranked Wolverines (8-6) will meet No. 1 seed and third-ranked Johns Hopkins (10-3) on Thursday at 6 p.m. in a semifinal match carried by BTN. UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — No. 3 seed Penn State moved on to the semifinals with a 14-8 win over No. 6 seed Rutgers at Panzer Stadium.The Nittany Lions (11-3) received a stellar effort from goalie Jack Fracyon, the Big Ten's Specialist of the Year, whose 18 saves were the second-most in a tournament game. At the other end of the field, Rutgers freshman Cardin Stoller was equally up to the task, making 18 saves as well.TJ Malone, the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, provided a game-high seven points off four goals and three assists for Penn State. PSU scored four goals in the second period to open a three goal lead, then held Rutgers (7-8) to just three second-half goals. Rutgers did received a hat trick from Colin Kurdyla.Penn State will take on No. 2 seed Maryland on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. inside the Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium.</div>
