RESULTS
EUGENE, Ore. — The lone men's event at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday produced a pair of Second Team All-Americans for the Big Ten Conference.
Graduate student Ryan Talbot of Michigan State placed ninth in the decathlon with a season-best 7,759 points while senior Aiden Ouimet of Illinois finished 11th with 7,673 points.
Talbot jumped 10 spots in the decathlon standings on Thursday, highlighted by a personal-best throw of 50.90 meters (167-0) in the discus that was second-best in the event. Ouimet moved up two places sparked by a career-best showing in the discus as well.
Leo Neugebauer of Texas recorded the sixth-best performance in world history with a collegiate-record 8,961 points to capture the decathlon.
