Wisconsin Takes Home 2024 Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship

The Wisconsin Men’s Indoor Track & Field team won the 2024 Big Ten Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. This is head coach Mick Byrne’s second indoor championship with the Badgers.

Nebraska was this year’s runner-up with 118 points, while Penn State finished third with 88 points. Ohio State (80.33 points) and Indiana (61.33 points) rounded out the top five.

The Badgers took home five individual Big Ten titles, as Jackson Sharp won the 3,000-meter with a new Big Ten Indoor Championship record time of 7:46.42 and won the 5,000-meter (3:56.28). The Badgers DMR relay team (Nibbelink, Harris, Hassan, Spencer) won with a time of 9:43.95 while Adam Spencer won the mile with a time of 4:05.90 and Giovanni Wearing won the 60-meter hurdles (7.69).

The Big Ten Track Athlete of the Championships, Field Athlete of the Championships, Coach of the Year and Sportsmanship Award honorees will be announced on Tuesday (Feb. 27). The Big Ten Track Athlete of the Year, Field Athlete of the Year and Freshman of the Year will be announced following the NCAA Indoor Championships.
