Iowa, USC Earn First Weekly Men’s Indoor Track and Field Awards of the Season
Hawkeyes’ Ruland, Trojans’ Broderick and Mauricette garner weekly awards honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the week of March 19-26, 2025.
Track Athlete of the Week
Yougendy Mauricette, USC
Sophomore – Hurdles – Seaford, Del. – Major: Computer Science
- Won the men’s 400m hurdles with a personal-best time of 50.64 at the Trojan
- Invitational His time ranks second among NCAA runners and 17th in the current world rankings
- This marks USC’s first Big Ten Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week award
Field Athlete of the Week
Racquil Broderick, USC
Sophomore– Throws – Port Maria, Jamaica – Major: Exploratory
- Won the Trojan Invitation discus with a mark of 207-0 (63.09m)
- The mark was a PR for Broderick and broke the longest-standing USC men’s track and field record
- All five of Broderick’s legal throws would have scored at least third at the 2024 NCAA Championships
- He currently ranks second among collegians and 16th in the world in the discus throw
- This marks USC’s first Big Ten Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week award
Freshman of the Week
Bryce Ruland, Iowa
Freshman – Throws – Waterford, Wis. – Major: Undecided
- Won the men’s discus at the UCF Black & Gold Invite with a mark of 55.75m
- Ruland’s mark was 10th-best in Iowa’s program history
- His mark is also top ranked freshman in the Big Ten in discus
- Also placed second in the men’s shot put at 17.74m
- This marks Iowa’s first Outdoor Freshman of the Week Award
