Iowa, Nebraska and Washington Win Weekly Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the week of April 23-30, 2025.  

Track Athlete of the Week  
Nathan Green, Washington 
Senior – Distance – Boise, Idaho – Major: Real Estate 

• Anchored Washington to its first two Penn Relays Championships in the history of the men’s program
• On Friday, Green anchored Washington’s DMR team to a title in a time of 9:25.22 with a 3:55 final 1600-meters split
• One day later he came from behind to kick the Huskies to a win in the 4xMile Championship battling past the two fastest milers in NCAA history and the NCAA 1500m record-holder
• Named USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week
• This marks Washington’s first ever Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week award 

Field Athlete of the Week 
Till Steinforth, Nebraska 
Senior – Multi-event – Saxony-Anhalt, Germany – Major: Architectural Sciences 

• Won the Drake Relays with a score of 8,265 points
• His score is the top world decathlon mark and a new Drake Relays record
• Steinforth won the 100m, long jump, shot put, 400m and 100mH on his way to the decathlon win
• Last Nebraska Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week award: Arthur Petersen (April 26, 2023) 
   

Freshman of the Week 
Abraham Vogelsang, Iowa 
Freshman – Multi-event – Oslo, Norway – Major: Business 

• Recorded a decathlon score of 7,874 to place third at the Drake Relays
• Climbed to second all-time at Iowa with his new personal best
• Five of Vogelsang’s events were personal bests and he finished in the top three in four of the ten events
• Vogelsang is the top-ranked freshman in the country for decathlon and third overall in the country Last Iowa Outdoor Freshman of the Week Award: Duke Faley (April 16, 2025)
