 </a> LINCOLN, Neb. – Oregon won the Men’s Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday. This is head coach Jerry Schumacher’s second men’s Big Ten Outdoor championship with the Ducks.  With the win, Oregon becomes the first team to sweep the Big Ten men’s and women’s cross country, indoor and outdoor championships since Wisconsin did so in 1996-97. Minnesota and Nebraska tied for second place with 81 points each, while USC (70.5 points) and Ohio State (62 points) rounded out the top five.  Oregon also earned five individual Big Ten Outdoor titles, as the Ducks were victorious in the 10,000m, 3,000m steeplechase, 1,500m, shot put, and the 5,000m. On Friday night, Luke Tewalt won the 10,000m with a time of 29:49.24. On Saturday evening, Benjamin Balazs claimed the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 8:49.02. The Ducks then claimed three events on Sunday, as Simeon Birnbaum won the 1500m (4:00.98) and Tayson Echohawk was victorious in the 5,000m (14:08.84). Freshman Ben Smith also claimed the shot put title, throwing a personal best of 20.88m (68-6).  Two meet records were also broken this weekend, and both were by Nebraska in front of a home crowd. Keyshawn Strachan threw a meet-best of 79.36m (260-4), while sophomore Dyson Wicker cleared 5.72m (18-9 ¼), which was also a personal best.  The Big Ten Track Athlete of the Championships, Field Athlete of the Championships, Coach of the Year and Sportsmanship Award honorees will be announced on Wednesday (May 22). Oregon Claims 2026 Big Ten Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships

 </a>  LINCOLN, Neb. –  After an additional nine chances for points between men’s and women’s competitions, Oregon men still lead the field with 55 points. Minnesota (41 points) and USC (30 points) each had solid days of competition to stay within range for the final day. On the women’s side, Illinois jumped out to the lead with 73 points. Washington earned six more points to stay in second place with 66 total, followed by Minnesota with 48 points. Four individual champions were crowned on the men’s side in the decathlon, discus, long jump and 3,000m steeplechase — while five individual champions were determined on the women’s side in the heptathlon, shot put, high jump, long jump and 3,000m steeplechase.  In the women’s long jump, Rutgers’ Celine Brown claimed gold with a mark of 6.48m (21-3 ¼). She became the first Scarlet Knight to win a Big Ten title since Chloe Timberg won pole vault in 2024.  UCLA’s Valentina Fakrogha claimed the women’s high jump title with a meet record jump of 1.89m (6-2 ¼). Illinois added 18 points to its total in the event, as Rose Yeboah (2nd), Siun Quinn (3rd) and Emma Haeggblom (5th) all earned podium finishes.     Nebraska’s Axelina Johansson won the women’s shot put title, which became her sixth Big Ten title as a Husker. Her mark of 19.97m (65-6 ¼) was a meet record, Big Ten overall record and a Swedish national record.  Both the heptathlon and decathlon, which began on Friday morning and concluded Saturday evening with victories by Illinois in both. JaiCieonna Gero-Holt scored first in high jump and shot put to claim the heptathlon. Luuk Pelkmans tallied a winning score of 8004 with first place finishes in shot put and the 1500m.     Minnesota’s Charles Godfred, who won the men’s long jump title in 2025, repeated his success with a winning jump of 7.99m (26-2 ¾).  Michigan (second, sixth) and Rutgers (third, seventh) each had two podium finishers as well.    USC went 1-2 in men’s discus, as Racquil Broderick led the way for the Trojans with a throw of 62.80m (206-0). His freshman teammate Mico Lampien recorded a personal best 59.81m (196-2).     To conclude the evening’s running events, both the men’s and women’s 3,000m steeplechase took place. Michigan State’s Katelyn Stewart-Barnett cruised to a victory, as her time of 9:44.32 was a season best and beat the next-best runner by over 13 seconds.  </a>  LINCOLN, Neb. – The 2026 Big Ten Championships, hosted by the University of Nebraska, began Friday at the Nebraska Outdoor Track, a facility that opened for competition this season.  At the end of day one, Washington women’s (60 points) and Oregon men’s (38 points) each claimed an early lead. Minnesota had a successful day and finds itself in second on both women’s (34 points) and men’s (16 points).  Three individual champions were crowned on the men’s side in the hammer throw, javelin, and the 10,000m— while four individual champions were determined on the women’s side in hammer throw, pole vault, javelin and 10,000m.  The day kicked off with the women’s hammer throw, where Minnesota’s Anthonett Nabwe won the title for the second year in a row with a mark of 69.22 (227-1). Two other Gophers joined her on the podium, as Hadley Streit earned third place, and Ella Pavlovich claimed fifth for a total of 20 points.  Angelos Mantzouranis of Minnesota became the sixth straight Golden Gopher to win the event at the Championships with a season best throw of 75.98m (249-3). Iowa’s Ryan Johnson, who won the Indoor title this season, claimed second. In the women’s pole vault, Hana Moll became a record-setter once again with a new meet record, NCAA record, and personal best mark of 4.83m (15-10). Her sister, Amanda, claimed silver with a season’s best 4.63m (15-8 ¼). Between Hana and Amanda Moll, the two have claimed every pole vault title in both indoors and outdoors since Washington joined the Big Ten in 2024.  Washington also captured the women’s javelin title as junior Ashley Schroeder recorded a personal-best of 54.72m (179-6) on her fourth attempt. On the men’s side, Nebraska’s Keyshawn Strachan recorded a new meet record of 79.36m (260-4) to claim the title in front of Husker faithful. Oregon also recorded 18 team points in the men’s javelin with a second, third and fifth place finish.  After a weather delay, the night concluded with the men’s and women’s 10,000m. In the women’s 10,000m, Washington added to its lead with 18 total points, led by a title performance from Chloe Thomas with a time of 32:59.51, the only sub-33-minute mark in the field. Oregon’s Luke Tewalt earned first place and was one of three finishers on the podium for the Ducks, adding on to its first day lead.     Team Standings Men’s After Three Events   1.
