Indiana, Purdue and UCLA Gather Big Ten Softball Weekly Awards

Player of the Week 
Aly VanBrandt, Indiana 
Jr. – INF – Ottawa Lake, Mich. – Whiteford  

• Led Indiana to a 5-0 weekend at the Elon and UNCG Tournament, hitting .500 (8-for-16) with four home runs and two doubles  
• Totaled 15 RBI and eight runs scored, drawing five walks and was 3-for-3 on stolen bases 
• Against Elon on Feb. 27, VanBrandt was 3-for-4 with two home runs and a double, totaling seven RBI in that game 
• In the first game against UNCG, VanBrandt went 2-for-3 with five RBI and had a grand slam  
• Last Indiana Player of the Week: Sarah Stone (April 8, 2024) 

Pitcher of the Week 
Julia Gossett, Purdue  
Jr. – P – Massillon, Ohio – Jackson  

• Earned three of the Boilermakers five victories this weekend, including a save, pitching 16.2 innings without giving up a run 
• In four appearances, Gossett surrendered just three hits, with 28 strikeouts, producing a .055 opponent batting average  
• Earned a shutout in the Boilermakers’ 10-0 victory against Southern Illinois 
• In the final game of the weekend against Western Carolina, Gossett struck out 12 batters, two off her career-high

Freshman of the Week 
Bri Alejandre, UCLA 
INF – Alhambra, Calif.  – Los Altos  

• Hit .500 (6-for-12) in UCLA’s 5-0 weekend at the Judi Garman Classic 
• Started all five games for the Bruins, with two home runs, one double, nine RBI, nine runs, nine walks, a .682 on-base percentage and a 1.083 slugging percentage  
• Drew four walks in UCLA’s win against No. 4 Florida  
• On Saturday versus BYU and Seattle, Alejandre reached base in 7-of-10 plate appearances with four hits (one home run) and three walks  
• Last UCLA Freshman of the Week: Addisen Fisher (March 31, 2025)
