Oregon and Nebraska Claim Big Ten Softball Weekly Awards

Ducks’ Butler and Ho and Huskers’ Frahm garner weekly awards

Player of the Week 
Elon Butler, Oregon 
Sr. – OF – San Jose, Calif. – Archbishop Mitty  

  • Became the first player in Oregon program history to hit for the cycle during Saturday’s game vs. Iowa, also breaking a Big Ten and school single-game record with six hits in that game, scoring four runs to tie the program record  
  • In the weekend sweep of Iowa, Butler hit .583 with a double, a triple, two home runs and five RBI. She slugged 1.333 and had a .583 on-base percentage 
  • In the series opener, Butler led off the bottom of the first with a home run as the Ducks went on to a 10-1 run-rule win in six innings 
  • On Saturday, Butler singled in the first, tripled in the second, hit a home run in the fourth and doubled in the seventh for the cycle  
  • Butler’s double in the seventh began Oregon’s four-run rally to tie the game at 13-13 after the Ducks trailed 13-9 entering the home half of the seventh 
  • Butler then singled with one out in the bottom of the eighth before scoring the winning run on a sacrifice fly

Pitcher of the Week 
Jordy Frahm, Nebraska 
Sr. – P – Papillion, Neb. – Papillion-La Vista 

  • Went 2-0 across 9.0 innings pitched in Nebraska’s series sweep of Rutgers  
  • Posted an ERA of 0.00 as she threw a complete game shutout on Saturday and tossed three scoreless innings on Sunday, allowing just five hits in nine innings with 17 strikeouts and one walk  
  • Limited opposing batters to a .152 average at the plate

Freshman of the Week 
Taryn Ho, Oregon 
INF – Honolulu, Hawaii – Punahou 

  • Hit .556 (5-of-9) with a triple and five RBI to help Oregon to a sweep of Iowa 
  • Singled and scored a run in Oregon’s 10-1 win in the series opener  
  • On Saturday, Ho helped Oregon come from behind and win, 14-13 in eight innings. Down 7-4 in the third inning, Ho hit a two-run triple to bring the Ducks within one.  
  • She then singled and scored in the fifth inning and drove in a run with her third hit of the game in the sixth inning 
  • Her RBI ground out in the seventh inning brought Oregon within one run 
  • Had a hit and an RBI in Oregon’s 6-2 game three win 
  • Posted a 1.000 fielding percentage with five put outs, nine assists and zero errors  
  • Last Oregon Freshman of the Week: Rylee McCoy (April 28, 2025)
