Northwestern, Oregon and Nebraska Collect Big Ten Softball Weekly Awards

Wildcats’ Raye, Ducks’ Grein and Huskers’ Jensen earn weekly awards

Player of the Week 
Emma Raye, Northwestern 
Jr. – C – Superior, Wis. – Superior Senior 

  • Led the Wildcats at the plate in a series sweep at Penn State, reaching base in 11 of 13 plate appearances (.846 on-base percentage), while tallying six RBI, seven runs scored, two home runs and three stolen bases 
  • Raye hit .818 (9-for-11) during the Penn State series, recording three hits in all three games and scoring multiple runs in each game 
  • During Friday’s win, Raye reached base four times and went 3-for-3 with a three-run home run and two runs scored 
  • In Saturday’s run-rule win, Raye went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored 
  • Hit the go-ahead two-run home run in the fourth inning on Sunday and finished the game 3-for-4 with a walk, three RBI and two runs scored  
  • Last Northwestern Player of the Week: Kansas Robinson (March 26, 2024) 

 

 

Pitcher of the Week 
Lyndsey Grein, Oregon 
Sr. – P – Mokena, Ill. – Lincoln-Way Central  

  • Went 3-0 in the circle to lead Oregon to a road sweep at Maryland  
  • For the weekend, compiled a 0.93 ERA in 15 innings pitched, allowing two runs on seven hits, striking out 25 and walking only two  
  • Gave up only one extra-base hit in the entire series  
  • In Friday’s opener, Grein struck out eight in four shutout innings, allowing two hits  
  • Tossed four hitless innings on Saturday and struck out seven as the Ducks won 4-3 in eight innings  
  • In Sunday’s finale, Grein struck out 10 in a complete game, 8-2 win

Freshman of the Week 
Alexis Jensen, Nebraska 
P/UTL – Gretna, Neb. – Gretna 

  • Went 2-0 in the circle with a shutout in Nebraska’s series sweep at Wisconsin  
  • Finished the weekend with a 0.64 ERA, allowing only one run and three hits across 11.0 innings, striking out 13 and walking four 
  • Limited opponents to a .083 batting average at the plate  
  • Last Nebraska Freshman of the Week: Katelyn Caneda (March 6, 2023)
