Washington and UCLA Garner Big Ten Softball Weekly Awards

Huskies’ DeBoer and Hansen and Bruins’ Bragg earn weekly recognition

Player of the Week 
Alexis DeBoer, Washington 
Fr. – INF – Sioux Falls, S.D. – Bellevue – Major: Communication

  • Led Washington at the OUTRIGGER Invitational with a .579 batting average, 1.158 slugging percentage, 11 hits, two doubles, three home runs and 11 RBI 

  • Recorded her first career grand slam against Howard 

  • Extended her streak to eight consecutive games with an RBI, tallying a season-high four against Howard on Feb. 28 and three against Howard on Feb. 27 

  • Five of the freshman’s 11 hits went for extra bases 

  • Went 1-for-1 in stolen bases 

  • Last Washington Player of the Week: Alexis DeBoer (March 3, 2025) 

 

Pitcher of the Week 
Stevie Hansen, Washington 
Sr. – RHP – Norco, Calif. – Norco – Major: Communication

  • 2-0 record with a save helping the Huskies to a 6-0 weekend at the OUTRIGGER Invitational  

  • Solo shutout vs. Jackson State (Feb. 27) and combined for a shutout against Howard on Feb. 28 

  • 0.00 ERA in 12.2 innings in three appearances and two starts 

  • Held opponents to 1 .095 batting average with just four hits allowed and one walk  

  • Recorded a season-high eight strikeouts against Howard (Feb. 28) and threw seven strikeouts against Jackson State (Feb. 27) 

  • Tossed 1.2 innings in relief to earn first save of the season against Hawaii with no hits allowed and one strikeout (March 1) 

  • Last Washington Pitcher of the Week: Stevie Hansen (March 3, 2025) 

 

Freshman of the Week
Kaniya Bragg, UCLA 
INF – Garden Grove, Calif. – Pacifica High School – Major: Psychology 

  • Tied with Jordan Woolery for the team-high in batting average (.474) and hits (9) over UCLA’s six games at the Judi Garman Classic last week 

  • Led the Bruins with 10 runs scored a .615 on-base percentage 

  • Recorded the first two home runs of her career last week. Her first home run was a solo shot versus Notre Dame on Friday. Her second homer was a go-ahead, two-run shot in the 10th inning vs. No. 10 Arizona 

  • Recorded the first three-hit performance of her career against Utah, going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI 

  • Notched two separate three-run performances vs. Utah and Weber State 

  • Last UCLA Freshman of the Week: Kaniya Bragg (March 3, 2025)
