Nebraska, Northwestern and Penn State Claim Big Ten Softball Weekly Awards

Player of the Week 

Billie Andrews, Nebraska  

Sr. – SS – Gretna, Neb. – Gretna – Major: Graphic Design 

• Hit .619 with 13 hits, five extra-base hits, four home runs, eight runs and six RBI in five games at the Mary Nutter Classic 

• Led the 30-team tournament in slugging (1.238), hits (13), home runs (4) and total bases (26) 

• Averaged 2.6 hits per game, 1.0 extra-base hits per game, 0.8 home runs per game, 1.6 runs per game and 1.2 RBI per game  

• Recorded a hit in all five games, with multiple hits in four of the five games, tying her career-high in hits with a 4-for-4 outing against No. 20 Utah 

• Tied her career best with two home runs as part of a 3-for-5 day against No. 19 UCLA, marking her seventh career multi-home-run game to tie a Nebraska record 

• Earns her seventh career Player of the Week honor

Pitcher of the Week 

Ashley Miller, Northwestern 

Gr. – RHP – Leo, Ind. – Leo – Master’s: Management 

• Appeared in all four games for Northwestern at the Mary Nutter Classic, making two starts  

• Allowed one run in 17.0 innings pitched (0.41 ERA) and held opposing batters to a .143 batting average 

• Surrendered four hits and one run while striking out six in a 1-0 loss to No. 19 UCLA on Friday  

• Picked up her third save of the season in a 9-8 win over San Diego on Saturday  

• Tossed a one-hit shutout against Oregon State on Sunday, striking out nine en route to her second complete game shutout of the season 

• Carried a no-hit bid into the seventh inning against Oregon State, retiring 21 of 23 batters faced 

• Last Northwestern Pitcher of the Week: Lauren Boyd (March 28, 2023) 

Freshman of the Week 

Bridget Nemeth, Penn State  

RHP – Glendora, Calif. – Glendora – Major: Agribusiness Management 

• Led the Nittany Lions in innings pitched with 16.0 throughout three games played, tossing a complete game in her lone start of the weekend 

• Allowed just one earned run across the 16 innings, for an ERA of 0.44 

• Yielded a .197 opponent batting average, striking out 24 batters with three walks  

• Earned the victory in all three mound appearances, bringing her individual record to 8-0 on the season
