Penn State, Michigan State and Purdue Earn Big Ten Softball Weekly Awards

Player of the Week 

Kaitlyn Morrison, Penn State 

R-Sr. – SS – South Park, Pa. – South Park – Major: Middle Level Education 

• Boasts a .600 batting average through the first four games at the Longhorn Invitational, posting a trio of extra-base hits while logging five RBI 

• Tallied six hits, five RBI and three doubles with zero strikeouts and a pair of stolen bases 

• Hit the walk-off RBI hit Sunday afternoon to propel Penn State to a 3-2 victory over Northwestern State 

• Has helped guide the Nittany Lions to their best start through 16 games in program history (15-1 overall) 

• Last Penn State Player of the Week: Lexie Black (April 24, 2023) 

Pitcher of the Week 

Liv Grey, Michigan State 

Gr. – RHP – Woodland, Wash. – Woodland – Master’s: Criminal Justice  

• Recorded a season-best 11 strikeouts in back-to-back mound appearances, finishing the week 3-0  

• Held opponents to a .094 batting average in 16.2 innings, allowing a combined five hits in three starts  

• Last Michigan State Pitcher of the Week: Ashley Miller (Feb. 14, 2022) 

Freshman of the Week

Ashlynn Campbell, Purdue 

2B – Wetumpka, Ala. – Wetumpka – Major: Undecided 

• Led Purdue with a .412 batting average, starting at 2B in every game 

• Recorded two runs and seven hits with five RBI 

• Went 2-2 on stolen bases
