Mesones, Lindqvist Earn Weekly Women's Golf Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. – University of Minnesota junior Mariana Mesones has been named the Big Ten Women’s Golfer of the Week, and Purdue University's Ida Lindqvist received Freshman of the Week honors, for tournaments from March 12-18.

Junior – Trujillo, Peru – Saddlebrook Preparatory School - Business Administration

·       Shot a 3-under 213 (70-72-71) to finish tied for third at the Valspar Augusta Invitational hosted at Forest Hills Golf Club in Georgia

·       Carded only five bogeys in 72 holes, fewest in the field, en route to her second consecutive Top-3 finish

·       Helped lead the Gophers to a Top-5 result in the 17-team field

Freshman of the Week
Ida Lindqvist, Purdue

Freshman – Sundsvall, Sweden – Filbornaskolan RIG Golf Helsingborg

·       Earned her top finish as a Boilermaker (T16) at the Briar's Creek Invitational hosted at The Golf Club At Briar's Creek in Jones Island, South Carolina

·       Broke a school record for 36-hole total by a freshman (70-74=144), besting Luana Valero’s score of 146 (74-72) at last week’s Shootout at Wachesaw

·       Carded back-to-back eagles in Round 1 on the Par-5, 444-yard No. 7, and the Par-4, 370-yard No. 8
