Michigan State and Northwestern Open Play at NCAA Golf Championships

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Michigan State is tied for 16th place and Northwestern occupies 28th place after opening round action of the NCAA Divsion I Women's Golf Championships being held at Grayhawk Golf Club.
Michigan State compiled a score of 293 and is just four shots back from a spot in the top-10 while Northwestern finished at 303. Second-ranked Wake Forest leads the 30-team field with a 279 tally.
Katie Lu of Michigan State posted the lowest score of the day by a Big Ten participant, shooting an even-par 72 for 36th place.
Second round play begins tomorrow at 8:10 a.m. ET.
