Seven Big Ten Teams Take Aim At NCAA Women's Golf Title

Best in college golf descend on Omni La Costa for 2025 NCAA Championships

CARLSBAD, California -- Seven Big Ten squads will tee off the 2025 NCAA Women's Golf Championships on Friday, May 16, at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa (Par 72; 6,330 yards).

No. 5 Oregon, No. 9 Southern California, No. 11 Northwestern, No. 13 Ohio State, No. 23 Michigan State, No. 28 UCLA and No. 41 Purdue all advanced from regional play, which took place May 5-7 at six sites [Charlottesville, Virginia; Columbus, Ohio; Gold Canyon, Arizona; Lexington, Kentucky; Lubbock, Texas; and Norman, Oklahoma], with the top five teams and top individual not on a qualifying team advancing to the national championships.

The event begins Friday with the first of three rounds of stroke play before the 30-team field is cut down to 15 ahead of Monday's final round of stroke play. An individual NCAA champion will be crowned following Monday's round, and the top eight teams following 72 holes will advance to NCAA match play on Tuesday. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be played on Tuesday with the national championship match set for Wednesday, May 21.

Led by Big Ten Player of the Year, Kiara Romero, No. 5 Oregon enters the Championships this week as one of the hottest teams in the nation after posting back-to-back runaway wins at the 2025 Big Ten Championships and the NCAA Gold Canyon Regional. UO has three total wins on the season while placing in the top five in every tournament. The Ducks are making their 14th appearance at the NCAA Championships, and has advanced to match play in two of the last three years.

No. 9 USC is making its 27th consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championships, led by unanimous Big Ten Freshman of the Year Jasmine Koo and Catherine Park, who picked up her ninth Top-10 finish of the season at the NCAA Lexington Regional.

Current Big Ten schools have finished runner-up at the last three NCAA Championships, and four of the last seven, with UCLA (2024), USC (2023), Oregon (2022) and Northwestern (2017) all reaching the final round of match play.
