PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The 41st Big Ten Women's Golf Championships came down to the back nine before Illinois prevailed over Northwestern and Ohio State Sunday at the Fox Chapel Golf Club. Illinois receives the conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Championships after winning its first-ever Big Ten title.

With temperatures dipping to the mid-40s, the Illini shot a closing 287 to finish at 865 (+13), edging Northwestern (868) by three strokes and Ohio State (871) by six shots. Maryland (883) finished fourth, followed by Wisconsin (890), Michigan (897) and Michigan State (897) in sixth, Purdue (898), Minnesota (902), Nebraska (904), Iowa (909), Indiana (910) and Penn State (910) in 12th and Rutgers (918).

Illinois graduate student Crystal Wang carded a 62 -- setting a championship record for lowest round -- to pull away from the field and earn medalist honors with a three-day total of 12-under-par 201, eclipsing the event's 54-hole record by four strokes. Ranked 16th in the nation, Wang birdied the first four holes and never looked back in capturing her second individual title of the season. She also received the Mary Fossum Award as the conference golfer with the lowest stroke average relative to par this season (-1.45).

Minnesota freshman Isabella McCauley and Wisconsin senior Emily Lauterbach tied for second with even-par 213s. The top six finishers and ties were named to the All-Championship Team (see below).

Today's event ends a two-year run for the championships at Fox Chapel, The course, designed by Seth Raynor and Charles Banks, is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
