Johns Hopkins and Rutgers Score Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Accolades

Blue Jays’ Angello, Downey, and O’Brien join Scarlet Knights’ Messina with weekly honors

Offensive Player of the Week 
Ava Angello, Johns Hopkins
Sr. – A – Manlius, N.Y. – Fayetteville-Manlius

  • Recorded 15 points on 10 goals and five assists, as the No. 7 Blue Jays scored a pair of Big Ten wins
  • Matched a career-high with 11 points on seven goals and four dimes in a 20-5 victory over USC
  • Paired three goals, an assist, and a ground ball in Hopkins’ 18-12 win over No. 25 Ohio State
  • Scored her 200th career goal against the Buckeyes, becoming the third player in program history to reach the plateau
  • Scores her third career Offensive Player of the Week honor

Midfielder of the Week
Lacey Downey, Johns Hopkins
Jr. – M – Babylon, N.Y. – West Babylon

  • Totaled six goals, nine assists, four ground balls, two draw controls and three caused turnovers in a 2-0 week for Johns Hopkins
  • Scored two goals and assisted on four more, to go with three ground balls, three caused turnovers and one draw in the win over the Trojans
  • Posted a career-high nine points on four goals and five assists, in the Blue Jay’s win over the Buckeyes
  • Nabs her third Midfielder of the Week award of the season

Defensive Player of the Week  
Reagan O’Brien, Johns Hopkins
Sr. – Charlestown, Mass. – Boston Latin

  • Totaled 15 caused turnovers and secured nine ground balls, as the Blue Jays claimed two wins
  • Notched eight caused turnovers and picked up three ground balls in a win over USC
  • Paired seven caused turnovers and six ground balls and a draw control, as Johns Hopkins downed Ohio State
  • Earns her third career Defensive Player of the Week accolade

Freshman of the Week  
Annalise Messina, Rutgers
M – Hatboro, Pa. – Upper Moreland

  • Scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner with three seconds to play, in a 9-8 win at No. 25 Ohio State
  • Added two draw controls, a caused turnover and a ground ball in the victory
  • Notches her first Freshman of the Week award
