USA Lacrosse Includes 26 from Big Ten on Women's Lacrosse All-America Team
ROSEMONT, Ill. – USA Lacrosse Magazine recognized 26 Big Ten women’s lacrosse student-athletes on Thursday, as the publication announced its 2026 Division I Women’s Lacrosse All-Americans. All-Americans were chosen by magazine staff with input from coaches and conferences across the country.
Among the 26 Big Ten honorees, six schools are represented. Northwestern led the Big Ten with seven honorees, one more than Michigan, and two more than Maryland. Johns Hopkins and Penn State had three honorees each, while Rutgers claimed a pair.
Johns Hopkins’ Lacey Downey and Reagan O’Brien, Maryland’s Kori Edmondson and JJ Suriano, and Northwestern’s Madison Taylor claimed First Team accolades.
Downey makes her second appearance on the USA Lacrosse All-America team after picking up honorable mention accolades last season. She leads the Blue Jays and ranks 10th in the nation with 90 points. She is also tied for the team lead and tied for 20th in the nation with 41 assists, while her 57 ground balls rank sixth in Div. I.
O’Brien, a two-time USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American, leads the nation in caused turnovers with 75 and ranks fifth in ground balls with 62. A Tewaaraton Award finalist and two-time Big Ten Defender of the Year, she is the NCAA's career leader in caused turnovers with 241. O'Brien's 75 CTs this season rank second in program history and third in NCAA history.
Edmondson collected her second consecutive First Team accolade after ranking third on the team with 57 points on 44 goals and 13 assists while placing second with 67 draw controls. Edmondson also named a Tewaaraton Top 25 finalist and a unanimous All-Big Ten First Selection.
Surriano claims her first All-America honor after a campaign that saw her named Big Ten Goaltender of the Year and a Tewaaraton Top 25 finalist. The junior netminder leads the 2026 Big Ten Goaltender of the Year, leads the Big Ten in saves per game (10.38), total saves (166), and save percentage (.520), while ranking second nationally in saves.
Taylor, a two-time USA Lacrosse All-America First Team honoree and three-time Tewaaraton Award finalist, leads the Big Ten in goals (80) and points (111), ranking second nationally in goals and third nationally in points. Taylor has added 16 ground balls, 15 caused turnovers and 46 draw controls throughout her 2026 campaign. She is the first player in NCAA history to record career marks of 450 points and 200+draw controls, and leads all active players in career goals (325) and points (455).
The USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American team is the first of a projected three All-American teams to be released this postseason. The All-American teams from the media voting compiled by Inside Lacrosse, as well as the Coaches' All-American teams from the IWLCA will be released at a later date this month.
