ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced this week’s Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards for the week of March 19-25.
Offensive Players of the Week
Kristin O’Neill, Penn State
Sr. – M – Odenton, Md. – Archbishop Spalding
Scored six goals, including the overtime game-winning marker as No. 19 Penn State upset then-No. 1 Northwestern 14-13
Converted three of four free position shots, including the game’s final play with 1:17 left in overtime
Scooped three ground balls in the victory
Scored her first career Offensive Player of the Week honor

Midfielder of the Week
Samantha Smith, Northwestern
Jr. – M – Mill Valley, Calif. – Tamalpais
Paired 22 draw controls and three assists, as No. 3 Northwestern split a pair of contests
Paired eight draw controls and two assists in the Wildcats’ 14-13 overtime loss at No. 19 Penn State
Secured a career-high 14 draw controls to go with an assist in Northwestern’s 16-10 win at No. 13 North Carolina
Nabs her first career Midfielder of the Week award

Defensive Player of the Week
Meghan Ball, Maryland
Gr. – D – Raritan, N.J. – Bridgewater-Raritan
Totaled nine draw controls and our caused turnovers, as No. 1 Maryland scored a pair of wins
Collected five draw controls and caused a pair of turnovers in a 13-7 win at Georgetown
Paired four draw controls, two caused turnovers, and a ground ball to anchor the Terps’ 13-8 victory over Rutgers
Earns her seventh career Defensive Player of the Week accolade
