Northwestern, Rutgers, Johns Hopkins Score Weekly Women’s Lacrosse Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced this week’s Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards for the week of Feb. 27-March 4, 2024. 

Offensive Player of the Week 

Izzy Scane, Northwestern 

Grad. – A – Clarkston, Mich. – Cranbrook Kingswood – Major: Master’s in Management

  • Scored nine goals to lead No. 1 Northwestern to a pair of wins

  • Netted four goals in leading the Wildcats to a 14-11 win at then-No. 1 Boston College

  • Added five goals and a draw control in a 27-3 win over Central Michigan

  • Garners her 10th career Offensive Player of the Week award and second this season

  • Last Northwestern Offensive Player of the Week: Izzy Scane (Feb. 27, 2024) 

Midfielder of the Week

Cassidy Spilis, Rutgers  

Grad. – M – Tabernacle, N.J. – Seneca – Major: Master’s in Education

  • Posted eight goals, 13 draw controls, 10 ground balls and five caused turnovers, as the No. 22 Scarlet Knights split a pair of contests

  • Scored five goals on five shots to go with six draw controls, six ground balls and three caused turnovers in a 13-10 loss at No. 23 Princeton

  • Closed the week with a performance that included three goals, seven draw controls, four ground balls, and two caused turnovers in a 15-7 win over Oregon

  • Earns her seventh Midfielder of the Week award and fourth in a row

  • Last Rutgers Midfielder of the Week: Cassidy Spilis (Feb. 27, 2024) 

Defensive Player of the Week 

Jordan Carr, Johns Hopkins 

Sr. – M – Port Deposit, Md. – Perryville – Major: Public Health

  • Paired six caused turnovers, eight ground balls and a pair of draw controls, as the No. 15 Blue Jays topped Georgetown and then-No. 16 USC

  • Recorded a caused turnover, a draw control and a pair of ground balls in a 10-9 win over Georgetown

  • Caused five turnovers with six ground balls as Johns Hopkins downed USC 13-10

  • Earns her second Defensive Player of the Week award

  • Last Johns Hopkins Defensive Player of the Week: Jordan Carr (Feb. 13, 2024) 

Freshman of the Week

Payton Tini, Rutgers  

M – Bayville, N.Y. – Locust Valley – Major: Business

  • Totaled seven points on four goals and three assists, as No. 22 Rutgers split games last week

  • Paired a goal and an assist in a losing effort at Princeton

  • Recorded a career best four points in a 15-7 win over Oregon

  • Earns her second consecutive Freshman of the Week award
