ROSEMONT, Ill. – Ten Big Ten women’s lacrosse student-athletes were recently honored by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), as the organization announced its list of 2023 All-America Teams.

Among the 48 student-athletes who were selected for one of the 2023 Division I All-American teams, four came from Northwestern, three from Maryland and one each from Michigan, Penn State, and Rutgers.

Northwestern attackers Erin Coykendall and Izzy Scane collected First Team honors, while teammates Hailey Rhatigan and Samantha White joined Michigan attacker Jill Smith, Maryland defender Abby Bosco and Rutgers’ defender Meghan Ball on the Second Team. Midfielder Shaylan Ahearn and attacker Eloise Clevenger, both from Maryland, and Penn State defender Ellie Hollin were named to the Third Team.

Coykendall notched her first IWLCA All-America honor after pairing 58 goals and 50 assists for 108 points on the season. The Spencerport, N.Y. native tallied at least three points in 20 of Northwestern’s 22 contests, including 13 games with at least five points.

This is the second First Team accolade for Scane, while led the nation with 99 goals and 134 total points. The two-time Big Ten Attacker of the Year, Scane broke the Wildcats’ program record for goals in a season, while her 134 points are good for second. The graduate student scored more than seven goals five times and less than four goals just twice in 2023.
