Northwestern, Rutgers, Johns Hopkins, Ohio State Share Weekly Women’s Lacrosse Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced this week’s Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards for the first weekend of the 2024 campaign, February 9-11. 

Offensive Players of the Week 

Erin Coykendall, Northwestern 

Grad. – A – Spencerport, N.Y. – Spencerport – Major: Master's in Sports Administration

•    Recorded eight points to lead No. 1 Northwestern to an 18-13 win over No. 5 Syracuse

•    Posted four goals on six shots and four assists in the victory 

•    Garners her third career Offensive Player of the Week award 

•    Last Northwestern Offensive Player of the Week: Erin Coykendall (March 28, 2023) 

Midfielder of the Week 

Cassidy Spilis, Rutgers  

Grad. – M – Tabernacle, N.J. – Seneca – Major: Master’s in Education

•    Tallied seven points in the Scarlet Knight’s 20-10 win over Manhattan

•    Paired six goals, an assist, and eight draw controls in the win

•    Earns her fifth Midfielder of the Week award 

•    Last Rutgers Midfielder of the Week: Cassidy Spilis (April 18, 2023) 

Defensive Player of the Week

Jordan Carr, Johns Hopkins 

Sr. – D – Port Deposit, Md. – Perryville – Major: Public Health

•    Tallied seven caused turnovers, five draw controls and two ground balls, as the No. 13 Blue Jays topped #21 Albany and Siena 

•    Forced three turnovers, controlled three draws, scooped two ground balls and scored a transition goal in the 14-10 win at Albany 

•    Earns her first Defensive Player of the Week award 

•    Last Johns Hopkins Defensive Player of the Week: Kathleen Garvey (May 3, 2022) 

Freshman of the Week

Kampbell Stone, Ohio State  

M – Upper Arlington, Ohio – Upper Arlington – Major: Health & Rehabilitation Sciences

•    Paired three goals and nine turnovers, as the Buckeyes scored a pair of wins on opening weekend

•    Scored her first career goal and won five draws against Robert Morris before adding two markers and four draw controls against Kent State.

•    Earns her first Freshman of the Week award 

•    Last Ohio State Freshman of the Week: Nicole Ferrara (March 10, 2020)
