Northwestern, Rutgers, Michigan Share Weekly Women’s Lacrosse Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced this week’s Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards for the week of Feb. 20-26, 2024. 

Offensive Players of the Week 

Izzy Scane, Northwestern 

Grad. – A – Clarkston, Mich. – Cranbrook Kingswood – Major: Master’s in Business Administration

  • Posted seven points on five goals and two assists as No. 3 Northwestern earned a 19-14 win at then-No. 20 Colorado

  • Recorded her 300th career goal, becoming one of three players in NCAA history to reach the mark.

  • Garners her ninth career Offensive Player of the Week award

  • Last Northwestern Offensive Player of the Week: Erin Coykendall (Feb. 13, 2024) 

Midfielder of the Week

Cassidy Spilis, Rutgers  

Grad. – M – Tabernacle, N.J. – Seneca – Major: Master’s in Education

  • Paired seven goals and 11 draw controls in a pair of victories for the No. 22 ranked Scarlet Knights

  • Tallied two goals, two ground balls, two caused turnovers and eight draw controls in an 11-7 win over Monmouth

  • Recorded a game-high five goals, including a natural hat trick in the first quarter, and three draw controls in a 16-9 win over RV Army.

  • Earns her sixth Midfielder of the Week award and third in a row

  • Last Rutgers Midfielder of the Week: Cassidy Spilis (Feb. 20, 2024) 

Defensive Player of the Week 

Erin O’Grady, Michigan 

Sr. – D – Port Deposit, Md. – Perryville – Major: Public Health

  • Recorded nine saves as No. 6 Michigan scored a 9-3 win at then-No. 13 USC

  • Anchored a defensive effort that held the Trojans to almost eight goals below their season average and their lowest scoring output since the 2023 season-opener

  • Earns her second consecutive Defensive Player of the Week award

  • Last Michigan Defensive Player of the Week: Erin O’Grady (Feb. 20, 2024) 

Freshman of the Week 

Payton Tini, Rutgers  

M – Bayville, N.Y. – Locust Valley – Major: Business

  • Totaled four goals and an assist, as No. 22 Rutgers scored a pair of wins

  • Notched two goals, a helper, a caused turnover and scooped a ground ball in the win over Monmouth

  • Added two goals and a ground ball in a victory over Army

  • Earns her first Freshman of the Week award

  • Last Rutgers Freshman of the Week: Emalie Clothier (May 3, 2022)
