Nebraska and Michigan Win Weekly Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Honors

Wolverines' Ross joins Huskers' Belquist and Leeling with awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the week of April 8-15, 2026.  

Track Athlete of the Week  
Kelsie Belquist, Nebraska
Sophomore – Sprints – New Rockford, N.Dak. – Major: Physcology 

  • Ran for two personal bests in the 400m hurdles (55.96) and the 400m (52.41) at the Spec Towns Invitational 
  • Her time in the 400m Hurdles was good for second in the event, first in the Big Ten, and second in school history 
  • In the 400m, her time is third in the Big Ten and ninth in Nebraska history 
  • Last Nebraska Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week award: Johanna Ilves (May 14, 2025) 

Field Athlete of the Week 
Karsyn Leeling, Nebraska 
Sophomore – Jumps – Sidney, Neb. – Major: Child, Youth & Family Studies 

  • Won the high jump at the Spec Towns Invitational with a PR of 1.89m (6-2 ¼) 
  • Her mark currently leads the NCAA and the Big Ten this season 
  • Last Nebraska Field Athlete of the Week award: Rhema Otabor (April 10, 2024) 

Freshman of the Week 
Emmry Ross, Michigan 
Freshman – Mid-distance – Onsted, Mich. – Major: Applied Exercise Science 

  • Ran a PR of 2:03.76 to win the 800m at the Spec Towns Invitational 
  • Her time is No. 21 in the NCAA and No. 5 in the Big Ten 
  • This marks Michigan’s first Outdoor Freshman of the Week Award in program history
