Michigan and Ohio State Garner First Weekly Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Awards of the Season

<div class="payload-richtext">ROSEMONT, lll. – The Big Ten Conference announced its 2026 Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Watch List on Thursday. Preseason honors were bestowed upon 18 student-athletes, eight of whom who earned 2025-26 Indoor First Team All-Americans honors The list features three reigning NCAA Indoor Track & Field Champions. Oregon’s Aliyah McCormick claimed the 60m hurdles title with a personal best time of 7.86 seconds. Hana Moll claimed her third NCAA title in pole vault with a winning mark of 4.82m (15-9 ¾), which was a new meet record. Nebraska’s Axelina Johansson claimed the shot put crown with a mark of 19.55m (64-1 ¾).  </a> urging the NCAA to continue pushing for limitations or the outright elimination of proposition (“prop”) betting involving individual student-athletes competing in college athletics. The letter reinforces the Big Ten Conference’s unwavering commitment to protecting the well-being and safety of student-athletes across all 18 Big Ten campuses, and the integrity of intercollegiate athletics.“The Big Ten Conference is proud to support our student-athletes in calling for the restriction or elimination of individual proposition wagers on college athletics,” said Big Ten Conference Commissioner Tony Petitti. <div class="payload-richtext">ROSEMONT, Ill. – 10 Big Ten student-athletes were recently honored for their performance in the classroom, as College Sports Communicators announced its 2025 Academic All-America Women's Track & Field/Cross Country. Washington and Oregon each had four All-Americans, while Penn State, Nebraska and USC each had one. The list was highlighted by Washington's Amanda and Hana Moll, who won the indoor and outdoor NCAA pole vault championships, respectively. <div class="payload-richtext">ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference is celebrating its 111th class of recipients who earned the Big Ten Medal of Honor from their respective institutions during the 2024-25 academic year. Established in 1915, the Big Ten Medal of Honor is the conference’s most prestigious award. It was the first award in intercollegiate athletics to demonstrate support for the educational emphasis placed on athletics. The Big Ten Medal of Honor is awarded to one male and one female student-athlete from the graduating class of each member institution who has demonstrated excellence on and off the field throughout their collegiate career. This year’s class comprised student-athletes from 15 sports. Big Ten schools currently feature more than 11,000 student-athletes, but only 36 earn the award on an annual basis. Since the Big Ten Medal of Honor was first presented more than a century ago, just over 1,680 student-athletes have earned this unique distinction. Those names are on permanent display at the Big Ten Office in Rosemont.
