Minnesota, Nebraska and Penn State garner Weekly Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Accolades
Gophers’ Nabwe, Huskers’ Schutz and Nittany Lions' Ritchie claim awards
ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the week of April 22-29, 2026.
Track Athlete of the Week
Berlyn Schutz, Nebraska
Junior – Lincoln, Neb. – Major: Political Science
- Won the Mile race at the Drake Relays with the No. 3 time in NCAA Outdoor history
- Ran 4:27.30 to finish as the top collegiate in the race, and her time is a school recor
- The junior now owns eight Nebraska school records
- Last Nebraska Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week award: Johanna Ilves (May 14, 2025)
Field Athlete of the Week
Anthonett Nabwe, Minnesota
RS-Junior – Throws – Monrovia, Liberia/Jamestown, N.Dak. – Major: Kinesiology
- Her winning hammer throw mark of 77.64m (254-9) at the Drake Relays came just three centimeters short of the NCAA all-time record
- Nabwe’s throw is 12th best in world history of all time and helped her finish as the runner-up in the professional field
- Her throw was both an African and Big Ten record
- Nabwe’s second Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week award this season. Last: April 8, 2026
Freshman of the Week
Boh Ritchie, Penn State
Freshman – Mid-distance – New Zealand – Major: Division of Undergraduate Studies
- Ran a 2:02.41 in the third leg of the 4x800m relay, aiding Penn State to a win
- Ritchie helped the Nittany Lions set a program record with an 8:18.43
- This marks Penn State’s first Outdoor Freshman of the Week Award
