Minnesota and Oregon Capture Weekly Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Accolades

Golden Gophers’ Nabwe and Weippert join Ducks’ Ayyildiz with weekly awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the week of April 23-30, 2025.

Track Athlete of the Week
Silan Ayyildiz, Oregon
Junior – Distance – Istanbul, Turkey – Major: Business Administration

Recorded a 4:25.50 mile at the Drake Relays to claim the outdoor mile record
Along with the outdoor mile, Ayyildiz owns the indoor mile (4:23.46) and DMR (anchor, 10:42.05) marks from the indoor season
Ayyildiz finished fourth in the Drake Relays mile as one of the two collegians in the field
This marks Oregon’s first ever Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week award

Field Athlete of the Week
Anthonett Nabwe, Minnesota
Rs-Sophomore - Throws – Jamestown, N.D. – Major: Kinesiology

Won the hammer throw at the Drake Relays with a mark of 67.14m (220-3)
Moved to No. 10 in the NCAA in the hammer throw and No. 1 in the Big Ten
Overall, Nabwe currently ranks No. 1 in the hammer throw, No. 16 in the discus and No. 6 in the shot put
Last Minnesota Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week award: Shelby Frank (March 28, 2024)

Freshman of the Week
Ella Weippert, Minnesota
Freshman – Javelin – Grand Forks, N.D. – Major: Undeclared

Won the Drake Relays with a lifetime best javelin toss of 43.96m (144-3)
Her mark of 43.96m is also a lifetime best
Weippert is currently the No. 3 ranked freshman in the javelin the Big Ten this season
This marks Minnesota's first ever Outdoor Freshman of the Week award
