Four Big Ten Schools Earn Bids to NCAA Rowing Championships

Four Big Ten teams were selected for the 2021 NCAA Division I Rowing Championships, the NCAA Rowing Committee announced on Tuesday. Michigan, Ohio State, Rutgers and Wisconsin earned berths into the national event, marking the 11th time in the last 12 seasons at least four conference teams have participated in the NCAA Championships.
The Wolverines earned the conference's automatic berth into the field after winning their seventh Big Ten Championship last weekend. The Wolverines earned a bid in the regatta for the 13th consecutive season and 21st time overall.
Ohio State, Rutgers and Wisconsin earned at-large bids to the NCAA Championships. The Buckeyes are making their 21st consecutive appearance in the event, having won national championships in 2013, 2014 and 2015. The Scarlet Knights earned their second consecutive trip to the NCAA Championships and third overall, while the Badgers claimed their 13th straight berth in the national championships and 17th appearance overall.
The 2021 NCAA Championships will be held May 28-30 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida. The championship field is made up of 10 automatic qualifiers as well as 12 at-large selections. Qualifying teams are required to field two boats of eight rowers and one boat of four rowers.
