Oregon Wins Weekly Women’s Cross Country Honors

Ducks’ Cherotich claims weekly awards after dominant performance

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Women’s Cross Country weekly awards winner for the week of Oct. 8- Oct. 15, 2025.  

Athlete & Freshman of the Week
Diana Cherotich, Oregon 
Freshman – Bungoma County, Kenya – St. Gregory Naiberi Secondary – Major: Undecided 

  • Cherotich won the women’s 6K at the 2025 Bill Dellinger Invite with a winning time of 18:58.9 
  • The freshman finished more than 40 seconds ahead of runner-up and teammate Juliet Cherubet 
  • Led the Ducks to a 1-2-3-4-6 finish and team title with 16 points 
  • Won the USTFCCCA D1 National Women’s Athlete of the Week on Monday 
  • Last Oregon Athlete of the Week: Juliet Cherubet (Oct. 1, 2025) 
  • Last Oregon Freshman of the Week: Ali Ince (Oct. 16, 2024)
