Iowa, Maryland and Penn State Claim Weekly Women’s Cross Country Awards
Hawkeyes’ Magallan, Terps’ Coats and Nittany Lions’ Caron win weekly honors
ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Women’s Cross Country weekly awards winner for the week of Oct. 15- Oct. 22, 2025.
Co-Athletes of the Week
Rose Coats, Maryland
Junior – Brooklyn, N.Y. – Brooklyn Prospect Charter High School – Major: Chemical Engineering
- Coats led the Terps with a fourth-place finish among 270 runners at the Princeton Fall Classic
- Completed the 6K race in 19:58.4-- her fourth sub-20 minute time
- It marked the second consecutive meet this season she finished a 6K in under 20 minutes
- Coats' second Athlete of the Week award this season. Last: Oct. 8, 2025
Florence Caron, Penn State
Graduate Student – La Malbaie, Quebec, Canada – Laval High School – Major: Linguistics
- Ran for a 20:07.2 in the women’s 6K, finishing 15th overall and first among Big Ten competitors
- Helped lead the Nittany Lions to a seventh-place finish at the Nuttycombe Invitational, the team’s best finish at the event in program history
- Caron's second Athlete of the Week award this season. Last: Sept. 17, 2025

Freshman – Burleson, Texas – Burleson Centennial High School – Major: Journalism and Mass Communication
- Finished 208th at the Pre National Invite in Missouri
- Set a near two-minute PR with her time of 21:59.2 in the 6K
- Placed top five amongst the Hawkeyes finishers as a freshman
- Magallan's third Freshman of the Week award this season. Last: Oct. 8, 2025
