Indiana, Minnesota Earn First Weekly Women’s Cross Country Honors
Hoosiers’ Zang and Gophers’ Weimer claim weekly awards
ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Women’s Cross Country weekly awards winner for competitions that occurred between Sept. 4-Sept. 9.
Athlete of the Week
Ali Weimer, Minnesota
Fifth Year– Saint Michael, Minn. – Saint Michael-Albertville High School – Major: Sports Management
- Won the Cyclone Preview individual title with a 6K time of 16:15.3
- This time marked almost a minute less than her previous personal best
- Minnesota defeated the likes of Missouri, Nebraska, Drake and Iowa State to win the team title
- Last Minnesota Athlete of the Week: Taylor Isabel (Sept. 24, 2025)
Freshman of the Week
Katy Zang, Indiana
Freshman – Orient, Ohio – Teays Valley – Major: Undecided
- Won her first collegiate race at the Sam Bell Invitational with a 4K time of 12:36.2
- Set a Sam Bell course record
- Finished nearly a full minute ahead of second place
- This marks Indiana’s first Freshman of the Week award
