Indiana Sweeps Weekly Women’s Cross Country Awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Women’s Cross Country weekly awards winner for competitions that occurred between Sept. 17-23.   

Athlete & Freshman of the Week
Katy Zang, Indiana 
Freshman – Orient, Ohio – Teays Valley High School – Major: Undecided 

• Finished second overall at the John McNicholas Invitational with a time of 19:15.7  
• Her time is the second ranked 6K time this season per athletic.net and broke the previous course record 
• Zang also finished the weekend as the top Big Ten finisher 
• Last Indiana women’s Athlete of the Week award: Bailey Hertenstein (Sept. 18, 2019) 
• This marks Zang’s second Freshman of the Week award this season. Last: Sept. 9, 2026
