Iowa Sweeps Weekly Women’s Cross Country Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Women’s Cross Country weekly award winners for the week of Sept. 3-10, 2025.  

Athlete of the Week 
Elena Torres, IOWA
Sophomore – Loveland, Colorado – Loveland High School – Major: Occupational Therapy

• Placed first in the Hawkeye Invitational with a time of 13:44.6 
• Her time was a personal-best and moved her to third all-time at Iowa 
• Last Iowa Athlete of the Week: Kayla Beattie (Sept. 11, 2012) 

Freshman of the Week
Ella Magallan, IOWA
Freshman – Burleson, Texas – Burleson Centennial High School – Major: Journalism & Mass Communication

• Ran a time of 14:25.1 in the 4K at the Hawkeye Invitational 
• Her time was good for 8^th place in her collegiate debut 
• Last Iowa Freshman of the Week: Elena Torres (Oct. 9, 2024)
