Wisconsin, Penn State and Minnesota Earn Cross Country Weekly Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Wisconsin senior Bob Liking and Penn State redshirt-freshman Nick Sloff secured Big Ten Weekly Honors for men’s cross country, while Minnesota junior Ali Weimer and freshman Isabelle Schmitz claimed recognition for women’s cross country.

Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week
Bob Liking, Wisconsin
Sr. – St. Charles, Ill. – East – Major: Health Promo Health Equity

• Finished seventh overall at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invite
• Covered the 8K course in 22:59.1 in his season debut
• Paced Wisconsin to the team title, defeating No. 10 Alabama and No. 14 Butler

Men’s Cross Country Freshman of the Week
Nick Sloff, Penn State
R-Fr. – State College, Pa. – State College Area – Major: Architectural Engineering  

• Navigated his first 8K race as a Nittany Lion in 24:27.4 at the Lehigh Paul Short Run
• Finished 59th overall at the event

Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week
Ali Weimer, Minnesota
Jr. – Saint Michael, Minn. – Saint Michael-Albertville – Major: Sociology

• Placed ninth at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational, the highest finish by a Big Ten runner at the event
• Clocked a personal-best 6K time of 19:46.80, the second-best 6K time in Minnesota history and fastest by a Gopher since 2021
• Helped Minnesota finish third as a team, ahead of No. 29 Texas and No. 10 Wisconsin

Women’s Cross Country Freshman of the Week
