Minnesota Wins 2022 Big Ten Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships

 
The Minnesota women’s indoor track & field team won the 2022 Big Ten Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The Gophers registered 102 points during the two-day meet to clinch their sixth Big Ten indoor title in program history and the second in as many years.
 
Ohio State was this year’s runner-up with 94 points, while Penn State finished third with 85 points. Michigan (78 points) and Wisconsin (68 points) rounded out the top five.
 
The Gophers picked up one individual title over the weekend as graduate student Bethany Hasz captured her second-straight 3,000-meter indoor title in come-from-behind fashion. Hasz, who has won Big Ten titles at four different distances (3,000 meters, 6,000 meters and 10,000 meters), clocked a 9:06.93 to capture the title over Michigan State's Jenna Magness. In addition, Minnesota closed out the meet with a victory in the 4x400 relay (3:34.45), with Jayla Campbell, Janielle Josephs, Val Larson and Abigail Schaaffe.
 
The Big Ten Track Athlete of the Championships, Field Athlete of the Championships, Coach of the Year and Sportsmanship Award honorees will be announced on Wednesday (March 2). The Big Ten Track Athlete of the Year, Field Athlete of the Year and Freshman of the Year will be announced following the NCAA Indoor Championships.
