<div class="payload-richtext">ROSEMONT, lll. – The Big Ten Conference announced its 2026 Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Watch List on Thursday. Preseason honors were bestowed upon 18 student-athletes, eight of whom who earned 2025-26 Indoor First Team All-Americans honors The list features three reigning NCAA Indoor Track & Field Champions. Oregon’s Aliyah McCormick claimed the 60m hurdles title with a personal best time of 7.86 seconds. Hana Moll claimed her third NCAA title in pole vault with a winning mark of 4.82m (15-9 ¾), which was a new meet record. Nebraska’s Axelina Johansson claimed the shot put crown with a mark of 19.55m (64-1 ¾).  </a> urging the NCAA to continue pushing for limitations or the outright elimination of proposition (“prop”) betting involving individual student-athletes competing in college athletics. The letter reinforces the Big Ten Conference’s unwavering commitment to protecting the well-being and safety of student-athletes across all 18 Big Ten campuses, and the integrity of intercollegiate athletics.“The Big Ten Conference is proud to support our student-athletes in calling for the restriction or elimination of individual proposition wagers on college athletics,” said Big Ten Conference Commissioner Tony Petitti. Limiting or eliminating prop betting on college athletics would be a meaningful step toward reducing harassment, protecting mental well-being, and preserving the integrity of college competition.”The Big Ten Conference SAIC was founded in 1994. SAIC members take an active role in monthly meetings discussing the issues most important to Big Ten Conference student-athletes and highlighting ongoing initiatives on their respective campuses. Washington and Oregon each had four All-Americans, while Penn State, Nebraska and USC each had one. The list was highlighted by Washington's Amanda and Hana Moll, who won the indoor and outdoor NCAA pole vault championships, respectively. <div class="payload-richtext">ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference is celebrating its 111th class of recipients who earned the Big Ten Medal of Honor from their respective institutions during the 2024-25 academic year. Established in 1915, the Big Ten Medal of Honor is the conference’s most prestigious award. It was the first award in intercollegiate athletics to demonstrate support for the educational emphasis placed on athletics. The Big Ten Medal of Honor is awarded to one male and one female student-athlete from the graduating class of each member institution who has demonstrated excellence on and off the field throughout their collegiate career. This year’s class comprised student-athletes from 15 sports. Big Ten schools currently feature more than 11,000 student-athletes, but only 36 earn the award on an annual basis. Since the Big Ten Medal of Honor was first presented more than a century ago, just over 1,680 student-athletes have earned this unique distinction. Those names are on permanent display at the Big Ten Office in Rosemont. <div class="payload-richtext">ROSEMONT, ILL. - The Big Ten Conference announced the 2025 Big Ten Women’s Outdoor Track and Field postseason individual award recipients on Wednesday, as selected by the conference’s head coaches. The NCAA championship meet was held last weekend at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.  Michigan’s Savannah Sutherland won Women’s Track Athlete of the Year, while Washington’s Hana Moll was selected as Field Athlete of the Year and Illinois’ Melissa Wullschleger was tabbed as Freshman of the Year. Sutherland claimed the new collegiate record in the women’s 400 meter hurdles with a time of 52.46 to claim first place in the event. She beat gold medalist Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone's seven-year-old record of 52.75.    Moll, the 2024 NCAA Indoor National Champion, earned first place in pole vault. To do so, she cleared 4.79m (15-8.5) which broke her twin sister Amanda’s record set in the 2025 Big Ten Outdoor Championships. She also beat the defending NCAA Outdoor Champion Chloe Timberg from Rutgers.    Illinois’ Wullschleger made an impressive debut in the NCAA championships, finishing fourth overall in the heptathlon with a score of 5,928 points. The heptathlete performed exceptionally well in the shot put and javelin on her way to a podium finish. In the shot put, she earned fourth place with a mark of 13.61m (44-8) and in javelin she earned third place with a mark of 5.96m (19-6.75). Wullschleger also became the first All-American for Illinois since 1996. Earlier this month, <a href="https://bigten.org/wotf/article/blt7e2acc12ada4f002/">

Big Ten Reveals Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Postseason Awards

 </a> TRACK TOWN, USA — The Big Ten Conference collected five national championships (four individual, one relay) to close the 2025 NCAA Women's Track & Field Championships Saturday at Hayward Field in Eugene. The Big Ten placed three teams among the top five in the final standings. USC (47 points) was runner-up to Georgia (73) while Washington placed fourth (31) and Illinois fifth (29.5). USC started strong by winning the first track event of the day, the 4x100m relay, in a time of 42.22 behind the quartet of Samirah Moody, Dajaz DeFrand, Madison Whyte and Jassani Carter. Moody collected another gold medal when she took the 100m dash by 3-thousands of a second (11.14/11.136). She is a force off the track as well, being named USC's female recipient of the Big Ten Jackie Robinson Community & Impact Award. Michigan's Savannah Sutherland set a collegiate record in the the 400m hurdles with an effort of 52.46. The Canadian Olympian also won the event in 2023. Washington senior Sophie O'Sullivan added to Washington's 1500m legacy with a winning time of 4:07.94 to give the Huskies metric mile hardware on the women's and men's sides. The loudest reaction from the Hayward Field crowd occurred when Oregon junior Aaliyah McCormick crossed the line first (12.81) in the 100m hurdles, becoming the school's first champion in the event. "I just really wanted to put my name out there — Oregon is here to represent — and I think I did that today," she said afterwards. Another first-place performance occurred in the National Collegiate Wheelchair 100m, where paralympian Hannah Dederick made it a sweep for Illinois (which won the men's race yesterday) with a first-place time of 16.50.
