<div class="payload-richtext">ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference on Thursday announced the dates and host sites for 2026-27 Olympic sports championships and tournaments. For the second consecutive year, all Big Ten Women’s Olympic Sports Championships & Tournaments will be presented by Allstate, the title sponsor of the Allstate Big Ten Women’s Championship Series. A complete schedule is below. The first postseason hardware of the fall will be handed out on October 30 in Madison, Wisconsin, at the 2026 Big Ten Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Championships on the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course, which hosted the 2024 NCAA Championships and numerous NCAA Regionals. The following weekend, the Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament will take place at Ohio State’s Buckeye Varsity Field from Nov. 4-8, and the quarter- and semifinals of the Big Ten Women’s Soccer Tournament unfold at Energizer Park, home of Major League Soccer’s St. Louis CITY SC. The women’s tournament champion will be determined on Nov. 13 on the home field of the highest remaining seed, and the men’s soccer tournament title also will be handed out on Nov. 15 on the highest remaining seed’s campus. The winter championships begin in the pool with the Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships taking place Feb. 17-20 in Iowa City, and the Men’s Championships from Feb. 24-27 at Purdue’s Morgan J. Burke Aquatics Center. The 2027 Men’s & Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships return to the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion Feb. 25-27. For the first time, the Big Ten Wrestling Championships will be hosted at a neutral site, Columbus’ Nationwide Arena, home of the NHL’s Blue Jackets. The conference that has produced 19 consecutive NCAA team champions will gather in Ohio’s capital city March 6-7. The Big Ten Ice Hockey tournament title will be determined on March 19 at the home of the highest remaining seed in the tournament, and the winter season will conclude with Women’s Gymnastics March 19-20 at Ohio State, and Men’s Gymnastics April 2-3 at Penn State. Spring action gets underway April 22-25 with the Big Ten Women’s Tennis Tournament at Illinois’ Atkins Tennis Center. The Big Ten Women’s Golf Championships will be contested April 23-25 at Nemacolin Resort in Farmington, Pennsylvania. From April 28-May 2, the Women’s Lacrosse Tournament heads west for the first time at USC’s Rawlinson Stadium. That same weekend Men’s Tennis will determine a tournament champion at Michigan’s Varsity Tennis Center in Ann Arbor, and the Men’s Golf Championships will take place at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey. The Big Ten Men’s Lacrosse Tournament will be held May 6-8 at Penn State’s Panzer Stadium. Big Ten Softball will determine its tournament champion May 12-15 at Bowlin Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships head to TrackTown USA, Eugene, Oregon, at historic Hayward Field, while the Big Ten Rowing Championships return to the Indianapolis Rowing Center May 15-16. For the eighth consecutive year, the final Big Ten tournament title of the season will be handed out in Omaha, Nebraska, where the Big Ten Baseball Tournament will be played at Charles Schwab Field Omaha from May 25-30.  </a>    ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Big Ten Conference announced Monday that 1,962 students on varsity rosters have earned the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award. The list includes students from all 18 institutions, plus Johns Hopkins and Notre Dame and 41 sports who have recorded a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.7 or higher for the previous academic year.    The 2025-26 class of Distinguished Scholar Award Recipients includes 359 students who maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA during the previous academic year, represented in bold on the official list.    Big Ten Faculty Representatives established the Distinguished Scholar Award in 2008 to supplement the Academic All-Big Ten program. Distinguished Scholar Award recipients must have earned Academic All-Big Ten recognition in the previous academic year, must have been enrolled full time at the institution for the entire previous academic year (two semesters or three quarters) and earned a minimum GPA of 3.70 or better during the previous academic year, excluding any summer grades. The Academic All-Big Ten threshold is a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for a student's academic career.     A complete list of the 2025-26 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award recipients can be found above.    </div>

Big Ten Recognizes 2025-26 Distinguished Scholar Award Recipients 

<div class="payload-richtext">PORTLAND, Ore. - As the sun set over the rolling hills of Cooper Mountain Vineyards on Saturday evening, “Big Life Series: Pacific Northwest” concluded its immersive educational experience where student-athletes from all 18 Big Ten institutions learned firsthand about the rich culture and history of the Pacific Northwest.   Over the course of less than 48 hours, over 175 student-athletes and administrators engaged in programming that included visits to Multnomah Falls, the Oregon Historical Society, the Grande Ronde Reservation, and Cooper Mountain Vineyards. The event brought together participants from all 18 Big Ten institutions, creating opportunities for learning, dialogue, and relationship-building among student-athletes from across the conference.    “Big Life Series: Pacific Northwest was a remarkable experience that allowed attendees to better understand and interact with the history, culture, landscape, and people that give the Pacific Northwest its distinct identity,” said Big Ten Chief Operating Officer Kerry Kenny. “The unique opportunity to connect student-athletes from across the country to an immersive experience outside of their traditional element is what distinguishes the Big Ten in preparing these young men and women for life after campus.”    At the Oregon Historical Society on Saturday morning, student-athletes learned about how Oregon became the state it is today, including the often-untold Black, Native American, and Japanese history that has shaped the state. Participants also toured the Yasui Family exhibit, learning about the challenges Japanese Americans faced during World War II and the advocacy efforts that helped advance civil rights in the decades that followed.    The quote on the back of the Big Life Series: Pacific Northwest T-shirt: “What is done to the least of us can be done to all of us” was from Presidential Medal of Freedom winner Minori Yasui.    “I found his bravery in speaking out about these issues incredible,” said Indiana women’s track & field sprinter Kristina Vincic. “Having a voice isn’t an easy thing and it takes time to build one. That’s something we can definitely tie in to our teams.”     After learning about Native American history at the Oregon Historical Society, participants experienced its living impact firsthand at the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Veterans Powwow. Student-athletes learned about the traditional longhouse, witnessed cultural traditions, and took part in the Grand Entry ceremony.  Often competitors on the field, student-athletes joined together to dance with members of the Grande Ronde Confederation and in honoring Veterans. Big Life Series Showcases the Spirit of the Pacific Northwest

<div class="payload-richtext">ROSEMONT, Ill. - As part of the “Big Life Series: Pacific Northwest”, the Big Ten will host over 150 student-athletes, coaches and administrators from all 18 Big Ten schools in Portland, Ore. from Friday, July 10 to Sunday, July 12. The program is designed to deepen participants’ understanding of the region’s rich history, culture and communities through an immersive educational experience.   Programming will begin Friday evening with a nature walk through Multnomah Falls to showcase the region’s deep ties to nature and the history of the Pacific Northwest landscape.    On Saturday, student-athletes will visit the Oregon Historical Society and have the chance to learn about the Japanese American West Coast experience and hear firsthand from a member of the Oregon Black Pioneers. Through discussions centered on resilience, community, and historical impact, participants will gain a deeper appreciation for the individuals and stories that have shaped the Pacific Northwest.    The group will then travel to the Grand Ronde Reservation for a Veterans Powwow, which will provide an opportunity to engage with living cultural traditions and better understand the history, values and contributions of the Native American communities across the region.   The evening will conclude with a dinner at Cooper Mountain Vineyard, where student-athletes will have a hands-on discussion about the agricultural history of the region and the grape-growing operation.   The Big Life series is an immersive educational experience started in 2022 that focuses on engaging, educating, and empowering Big Ten student-athletes, coaches, and administrators. With trips to Selma, Alabama; Mount Vernon, Iowa; and Portland, Oregon attendees learn about the historical and cultural significance of the region. Since its inception, over 500 students-athletes have participated in these programs. The Huskies (113.2 points) earned the title over runners-up UCLA (112), with Michigan (105.6), USC (104.4) and Ohio State (100.8) rounding out the final Top-5 of the year-long competition.Across the 2025-26 campaign, Washington excelled in numerous women’s sports including soccer, where they captured both the Big Ten regular-season and tournament titles, and rowing, at which they won six of seven grand finals to repeat as conference champions. The Huskies also piled up points with Top-4 finishes at the Big Ten cross country, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field championship meets, headlined by sisters Amanda and Hana Moll who finished No. 1 and No. 2 in pole vault at the NCAA Championships this year.“Winning is in the DNA of Washington. <div class="payload-richtext">ROSEMONT, ILL. - The Big Ten Conference announced the 2026 Big Ten Women’s Outdoor Track and Field postseason individual award recipients on Wednesday, as selected by the conference’s head coaches. The NCAA championship meet was held last weekend at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Oregon’s Aaliyah McCormick won Women’s Track Athlete of the Year, while Washington's Amanda Moll was selected as Field Athlete of the Year and Illinois’ JaiCieonna Gero-Holt was tabbed Freshman of the Year.    McCormick won the NCAA title in the 100m Hurdles event with a time of 12.58 seconds. It marks the second year in a row that she won the event. She becomes the first Duck to win the award. The senior also claimed the 60 meter hurdles title at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships this season.     Working on getting back to full form this season after an injury, Moll found her stride at the NCAA Championships by winning the pole vault event with a new NCAA-record of 4.84m. She becomes the second Husky in a row to win the award, after her twin sister Hana did so after winning the 2025 outdoor pole vault title.     Gero-Holt finished third in the heptathlon at the NCAAs with a score of 6010, showing an all-around prowess. She earned first place in both the heptathlon shot put and high jump and also set a season’s best in the 800m. She becomes the second Illini in a row to win the award, as Melissa Wullschleger, who is also a multi-event athlete, claimed the award in 2025.    Earlier this month, <a href="https://bigten.org/wotf/article/60049/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">

 </a>  EUGENE, Ore. – As the sun set over Hayward for the final time of the 2026 NCAA outdoor track & field season, five women’s Big Ten teams placed in the top 10 and three additional individual champions were crowned. The five Big Ten teams are the most to ever place in a top 10, surpassing last year's total of four.   Oregon was well-represented on its home turf, scoring 36 points to earn fourth place. USC placed fifth, earning 32 points with strong performances in sprints and throws. Washington (7th, 28 points), Illinois (t-8th, 27 points) and Nebraska (t-8th, 27 points) rounded out the top ten for the conference.   Trailing after Friday's first four heptathlon events, Washington’s Sofia Cosculluela came from behind to earn the crown. She started off Saturday afternoon by winning the long jump event with a mark of 6.52m (21-4 ¾), which propelled her into first place the rest of the way.

 After setting the school record time of 41.96 on Thursday in preliminaries, USC's 4x100m relay team of Dajaz DeFrand, Mia Bradhe-Pedersen, Madison Whyte, and Brianna Selby claimed the title by beating Thursday's time with another new school record time and season's best of 41.58. It marks the second year in a row the Trojans have won the title.   Oregon’s Aaliyah McCormick became the third Duck to win an NCAA title this weekend, as she claimed the 100m Hurdles event. The Big Ten went 1-2-3, as UCLA’s Celeste Polzonetti and Ohio State’s Janela Spencer claimed second and third place in the event, respectively.

 After yesterday’s win in the men’s wheelchair 100m, the Big Ten swept the para athletics events, as Illinois’ Hannah Dederick raced to a win with a season’s best 16.55 in the women’s wheelchair 100m.  </a>  EUGENE, Ore. – Big Ten schools continued the momentum on day two of the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Two Big Ten student-athletes earned individual event titles, and 13 student-athletes and three relay teams qualified for finals races on Saturday evening.  Nebraska’s Axelina Johansson completed her storied college career by winning the women’s shot put title with a meet record throw of 19.92m, and it marks the fourth NCAA title for the 2024 Paris Olympian (2023 Outdoor, 2025 Indoor, 2026 Indoor).

 Like clockwork, Washington’s Amanda Moll claimed the women’s pole vault title with a new collegiate record of 4.84m. Her twin sister Hana, who set the previous record at the Big Ten Championships in Lincoln this May, finished second this time around. The Moll twins have become a staple in the event, as the two have combined for the last four Indoor and Outdoor Big Ten women’s pole vault titles, and five out of the last six NCAA titles.  With the twins' efforts, Washington holds the lead after day one with 18 points. 250 Big Ten Student-Athletes Headed to NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships 

<div class="payload-richtext">ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference announced the 2026 Big Ten Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship award winners on Wednesday, as selected by the Conference’s head coaches. The championship meet was held last weekend at Nebraska Outdoor Track in Lincoln, Neb.  USC's Madison Whyte earned Women’s Track Athlete of the Championships honors, while Washington's Hana Moll was selected as Field Athlete of the Championships and Ducks’ head coach Jerry Schumacher was named Big Ten Coach of the Year for the first time in his career.Whyte dominated the sprints portion of the Championships for the Trojans, as she won the 200m and 400m individually, and was a part of the USC 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams that finished first. The Trojans’ 4x400m relay time of 3:28.52 is a new meet record and season best. Washington’s Moll, who has won three NCAA pole vaulting championships, surpassed her own limits once again at the Big Ten Championships. She cleared a mark of 4.83m (15-10) on her first attempt at that height, which is both a meet record and a new NCAA record.  Schumacher claimed his first outdoor Coach of the Year honors after leading Oregon to its first Big Ten Outdoor Women’s championship. He also won back-to-back indoor Coach of the Year awards. Schumacher has won five out of six of the championships between women’s Cross Country, Indoor, and Outdoor Track and Field since the Ducks joined the Conference in 2024.  The Big Ten Conference office recognizes one student-athlete from each team as Sportsmanship Award Honorees. The student-athletes chosen are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. In addition, the student-athletes must be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.  </a>  LINCOLN, Neb. – Oregon won the Women’s Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday. This is head coach Jerry Schumacher’s first women’s Big Ten Outdoor championship with the Ducks.  With the win, Oregon becomes the first team to sweep the Big Ten men’s and women’s cross country, indoor and outdoor championships since Wisconsin did so in 1996-97. Illinois was this year’s runner-up with 92 points, while USC finished third with 90 points. Washington (88 points) and Nebraska (81 points) rounded out the top five.  Oregon took home five individual Big Ten Outdoor titles, as it won the triple jump, discus throw, 1500m, 100m hurdles and the 5,000m. In the triple jump, sophomore Sharifa Davronova set a meet record on her first attempt with a 14.13m (46-4 ¼) jump. Maria Josee Bovele Linaka followed that up with a win in discus, as her personal best mark of 59.01m (193-7) earned her first. In the running events, Juliet Cherubet claimed the 1500m with a time of 4:16.53 while Aaliyah McCormick won the 100m hurdles with a time of 12.43. Dalia Frias helped clinch the team title for the Ducks by running a winning time of 16:58.74.  In addition to Davronova’s record, five other meet records were broken this weekend.  On Friday, Hana Moll beat her own pole vault NCAA record with a mark of 4.83m (15-10). On Saturday, Nebraska’s Axelina Johansson beat the field by almost two meters with a meet record shot put throw of 19.97m (65-6 ¼) and UCLA’s Valentina Fakrogha earned the Bruins’ first conference record with a high jump height of 1.89m (6-2 ¼). Sunday concluded with both USC relay teams setting records, as the 4x100m team ran a 42.85, while the 4x400m won the event with a 3:28.53. The Big Ten Track Athlete of the Championships, Field Athlete of the Championships, Coach of the Year and Sportsmanship Award honorees will be announced on Wednesday (May 22).
