Washington and Oregon each had four All-Americans, while Penn State, Nebraska and USC each had one. The list was highlighted by Washington's Amanda and Hana Moll, who won the indoor and outdoor NCAA pole vault championships, respectively. <div class="payload-richtext">ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference is celebrating its 111th class of recipients who earned the Big Ten Medal of Honor from their respective institutions during the 2024-25 academic year. Established in 1915, the Big Ten Medal of Honor is the conference’s most prestigious award. It was the first award in intercollegiate athletics to demonstrate support for the educational emphasis placed on athletics. The Big Ten Medal of Honor is awarded to one male and one female student-athlete from the graduating class of each member institution who has demonstrated excellence on and off the field throughout their collegiate career. This year’s class comprised student-athletes from 15 sports. Big Ten schools currently feature more than 11,000 student-athletes, but only 36 earn the award on an annual basis. Since the Big Ten Medal of Honor was first presented more than a century ago, just over 1,680 student-athletes have earned this unique distinction. Those names are on permanent display at the Big Ten Office in Rosemont. <div class="payload-richtext">ROSEMONT, ILL. - The Big Ten Conference announced the 2025 Big Ten Women’s Outdoor Track and Field postseason individual award recipients on Wednesday, as selected by the conference’s head coaches. The NCAA championship meet was held last weekend at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.  Michigan’s Savannah Sutherland won Women’s Track Athlete of the Year, while Washington’s Hana Moll was selected as Field Athlete of the Year and Illinois’ Melissa Wullschleger was tabbed as Freshman of the Year. Sutherland claimed the new collegiate record in the women’s 400 meter hurdles with a time of 52.46 to claim first place in the event. She beat gold medalist Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone's seven-year-old record of 52.75.    Moll, the 2024 NCAA Indoor National Champion, earned first place in pole vault. To do so, she cleared 4.79m (15-8.5) which broke her twin sister Amanda’s record set in the 2025 Big Ten Outdoor Championships. She also beat the defending NCAA Outdoor Champion Chloe Timberg from Rutgers.    Illinois’ Wullschleger made an impressive debut in the NCAA championships, finishing fourth overall in the heptathlon with a score of 5,928 points. The heptathlete performed exceptionally well in the shot put and javelin on her way to a podium finish. In the shot put, she earned fourth place with a mark of 13.61m (44-8) and in javelin she earned third place with a mark of 5.96m (19-6.75).  </a> TRACK TOWN, USA — The Big Ten Conference collected five national championships (four individual, one relay) to close the 2025 NCAA Women's Track & Field Championships Saturday at Hayward Field in Eugene. The Big Ten placed three teams among the top five in the final standings. USC (47 points) was runner-up to Georgia (73) while Washington placed fourth (31) and Illinois fifth (29.5). USC started strong by winning the first track event of the day, the 4x100m relay, in a time of 42.22 behind the quartet of Samirah Moody, Dajaz DeFrand, Madison Whyte and Jassani Carter. Moody collected another gold medal when she took the 100m dash by 3-thousands of a second (11.14/11.136). She is a force off the track as well, being named USC's female recipient of the Big Ten Jackie Robinson Community & Impact Award. Michigan's Savannah Sutherland set a collegiate record in the the 400m hurdles with an effort of 52.46. The Canadian Olympian also won the event in 2023. Washington senior Sophie O'Sullivan added to Washington's 1500m legacy with a winning time of 4:07.94 to give the Huskies metric mile hardware on the women's and men's sides. The loudest reaction from the Hayward Field crowd occurred when Oregon junior Aaliyah McCormick crossed the line first (12.81) in the 100m hurdles, becoming the school's first champion in the event. "I just really wanted to put my name out there — Oregon is here to represent — and I think I did that today," she said afterwards. Another first-place performance occurred in the National Collegiate Wheelchair 100m, where paralympian Hannah Dederick made it a sweep for Illinois (which won the men's race yesterday) with a first-place time of 16.50.

 </a> EUGENE, Ore. — Competing under a white spackled sky, Washington sophomore Hana Moll took women's pole vaulting to new heights at the 43rd edition of the NCAA Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which opened Thursday at Hayward Field. Hana Moll cleared 4.79m (15-8.5) to break the outdoor collegiate record held by twin sister, Amanda Moll, who finished third (4.49m/14-8.75) in the competition. Rutgers senior Chloe Timberg (4.49m/14-8.75), the 2024 NCAA outdoor champion, was runner-up. The national championship is the second for Hana Moll, who captured the 2024 NCAA Indoor title. Illinois received a second-place showing from senior Abria Smith in the shot put (18.85m/61-10.25), putting the Fighting Illini in second place in the team standing with 16.5 points, 9.5 points behind Georgia and half a point ahead of Washington. In semifinals action, the Big Ten qualified four sprinters for Saturday's 100m finals — three from USC and one from Ohio State. The Trojans also posted the fastest heat time in the 4x100 relay at 42.55. Eight Big Ten female athletes will be in action tomorrow when the heptathlon begins with the 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200m disciplines. </div>

NCAA Women's Outdoor Track & Field: June 12

<div class="payload-richtext">WASHINGTON, D.C. – June 6, 2025 – Today marks a historic milestone for college athletics in the United States. The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California has granted final approval to a settlement in the House v. NCAA (“House”) litigation. This landmark settlement – agreed to by plaintiffs representing nearly 400,000 current and former student-athletes and the NCAA, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), Big Ten Conference, Big 12 Conference, Pac-12 Conference and Southeastern Conference (SEC) – will reshape the landscape of college sports, paving the way for a model that prioritizes fairness, stability, integrity and opportunity for student-athletes and institutions.Overseeing this model will be the newly established <a href="https://www.collegesportscommission.org/">
 College Sports Commission
 </a> – an independent body that will be responsible for implementing the settlement terms governing revenue sharing, student-athlete Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) deals and roster limits. The Commission will investigate any potential violations of these rules, make determinations regarding potential rules violations and penalties, provide notice and opportunity to be heard, participate in the arbitration process and ultimately administer penalties for violations of these rules. The Commission’s leadership team will be announced in the near future.Under the new system, student-athletes will have more opportunities to financially benefit during their participation in intercollegiate athletics than ever before. Institutions are now able to share revenue directly with student-athletes, in addition to providing existing benefits such as athletic scholarships, access to world-class training facilities, academic counseling, medical care, post-eligibility medical coverage, mental health resources, nutritional guidance and life skills development.Beginning July 1, 2025, each year, participating schools can distribute up to 22% of the average revenue among schools in the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12 and SEC from media rights, ticket sales, and sponsorships – known as the revenue sharing cap. The cap is estimated at $20.5 million per school for the 2025-26 academic year, pending final confirmation. To ensure revenue sharing with student-athletes is appropriately managed and reported to the Court for compliance, athletics departments will use the new College Athlete Payment System (CAPS) platform developed by LBi Software.Student-athletes will also be able to continue receiving compensation from third-parties other than their institutions for the use of their NIL, so long as their NIL deals are made with the purpose of using their NIL for a valid business purpose and do not exceed a reasonable range of compensation. On behalf of the College Sports Commission, Deloitte* has built and will maintain a new technology platform called NIL Go in which student-athletes will be required to report their NIL deals to confirm they are in compliance with the rules.  >Range of compensation – Whether the compensation paid to the student-athlete is commensurate with compensation paid to similarly situated individuals.</li></ul>Finally, for participating schools, NCAA scholarship limits have been removed and roster limits have been established for each sport, allowing for a significant increase in scholarship opportunities for student-athletes. Under this new model, schools will have the option to offer partial or full scholarships to every student-athlete on a team’s roster, as long as the total number of student-athletes stays within the sport’s specific roster limit. Efforts have also been made to ensure current and immediately incoming student-athletes are not adversely impacted by the establishing of roster limits.  </a> Rosemont, ILL. – After the conclusion of the East and West Regionals, the Big Ten will be well-represented at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon at Hayward Field. 169 total student-athletes from Big Ten institutions will be competing from June 11-14.   On the men’s side, 84 total Big Ten student athletes will be competing. Minnesota, Ohio State and USC lead the Big Ten with 10 individuals traveling to Hayward. USC also has multiple qualifiers competing in different events. Trojans’ Max Thomas dominated in the West Regionals and will have a chance at four event titles in the 100m, 200m, 4x100m relay and the 4x400m relay.   On the women’s side, 85 individuals will be competing with Oregon with 12 student athletes competing. UCLA also had 11 qualifiers, and Iowa was third best with 10. USC’s Jassani Carter will also have a chance at four individual titles, as she is set to compete in the 100m, 200m, 4x100m relay and the 4x400m relay.  Many events will also be Big Ten dominated. In the women’s pole vault, seven from the Big Ten will vie for the title, including NCAA all-time No. 1 and No. 7 marks Amanda and Hana Moll from Washington. 2024 NCAA Outdoor Champion and all-time No. 5 Chloe Timberg from Rutgers will look to defend her title as well.   In the men’s 100m, six qualified from the Big Ten, including five from USC alone. The other competitor, Iowa’s Kalen Walker, won the Big Ten Outdoor title in May. On the women’s side, six from the Big Ten will also be competing in the 100m, including four from USC and two from Ohio State.  USC and Oregon will each look to complete the season sweep after winning the 2025 Men's and Women's NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, respectively. The first event kicks off at 12:00 pm PT with the Men’s Decathlon 100m on Wednesday, June 11 and will conclude with the Women’s 4x400m relay at 8:21 pm PT on Saturday, June 14.  </div>

169 from Big Ten Qualify for NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

<div class="payload-richtext">Rosemont, ILL. – The Big Ten Conference announced the 2025 Big Ten Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship award winners on Wednesday, as selected by the conference’s head coaches. The championship meet was held last weekend at the historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. USC's Madison Whyte was selected as Athlete of the Championships, while Washington's Amanda Moll earned Field Athlete of the Championships and Trojans’ head coach Quincy Watts was named Big Ten Coach of the Year.    Whyte was an important piece to the Trojans’ first place team finish, earning first place in the 200m, 400m and anchored the Trojans’ 4x400m relay first place effort. She follows teammate Dajaz DeFrand, who won Athlete of the Championships honors for the Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships.    Moll continued to set new heights in pole-vault and like the Indoor Big Ten Track & Field Championships, she broke her own NCAA record. Moll was pushed to her third attempt at 4.28m (14-0 ½) but after she cleared that aimed for a new meet and NCAA record of 4.78m (15-8 ¼) which she cleared on her third attempt. The only other athlete who was remaining with her was her twin sister Hana, who finished in second place.    Watts claimed his first Big Ten Outdoor Coach of the Year award after leading the USC women to a Big Ten outdoor title in the program’s first year in the conference. This is Watts’ second championship of the 2024-25 season, as the Trojans previously won the NCAA Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championships in March. The Big Ten Conference office recognizes one student-athlete from each team as Sportsmanship Award Honorees. The student-athletes chosen are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. In addition, the student-athletes must be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.
